Going, Yes.
I'll be there limitedly. Will go support Kimahri's West Coast debut.
I tend to go for only an hour or so - I can't take the whole weekend or even a whole day.

Who's going to CC
I'll be somewhere in gypsy camp under a tree. I'm not dancing, just selling.

I dance Saturday at 7:07 on the gypsy stage and then will be stage managing Sahara's show. . .
I'll probably be there earlier, though. . .

I am heading south to check it out this year. I can't resist a belly dance event at a race track--two of my favorite things. :)
I'll be dancing on the bazaar stage Saturday at 4:30.
And I'll be volunteering after that at the bag check in for an hour or so, then ushering for the show that evening (which I am really looking forward to seeing).
I'll be staying either at my bro's down in the south bay or at my friend's in Echo Park, but am definitely up for any meet-ups or hanging out in La la land with belly dancin' bhuzzers!

I went last year and was very disappointed in the set-up. In fact I left after less then 2 hours. I won't go this year, I refuse to waste my time, money and gas. And my hubby refuses to do another Cairo Carn. They managed to lose my pre paid tickets for him for the third year in a row last year.

I'm going but not sure which day yet. I agree with Ra-chell, the venue leaves much to be desired. Anybody up for pre- or post Wahibs outing? Rain

From what I've heard, the indoor part of the Carnivale will be in a different location; I hope it's a bit more "open" in feeling and some vendors aren't shuttled off into what almost felt like an anteroom . . .
Anyway, YES TO WAHIB'S!!! I've been only a couple of times and had a blast!
I'll probably be overnighting in the Arcadia area on Saturday, so a meet-up that night would be great!
Let's do it!
Deborah
ps: Dani . . . are you going to be a party-pooper or are you gonna show???Last edited by casbahdance; 04-16-2007 at 04:35 PM.

You ask the question that definitely deserves asking..w.:
I'm sorry I'm such a flake these days. I promise - school is out in June and I'll be free again. It's been a really tough year! ..cr.: And that icon is how I've felt for most of it.
I will plan on being there...Wahibs will be a nice way to celebrate FINALLY completing my frikkin degree!

nope
No advice for smilies - not working for me today 100%.
(I'm not finished yet - I'll be finished by Cairo Carnivale time or in the throes of finals anyway for my last term...and, I've been on the Dean's List all this year so I'm really proud of me! I wish I'd been a better student in my teens/20s)

You make it sound like a rhetorical question. Heh!
If I can get down at a normal-ish hour on Friday, and then if I can drag myself south to the OC, that sounds pretty fab! I have not been to Disney land in a looong time, since I was in high school. Last time I was there it was with friends who were in a band called Pitchfork* (and some friends from Crash Worship*), all of whom were from your neck of the woods! I only go to theme park with San Diegans apparently.
If I don't make it, can we still be bad at the track? Not bad meaning bad, of course, but bad meaning good. ::eek:
Or somethin' like that...
M.
*apologies for obscure 80s indie band name dropping, it/they/we were not cool in the 80s when all this took place, I swear.

You know people who were in Crash Worship?!?
Damn, you Rawk! You are by far one of the koolest people I have ever met, Monica.
Saw them at Trocadero when I lived in SF first time. I had NO IDEA what I was in for! LOL Course, saw them quite a few times in other cities too...would drag unsuspecting friends to their shows. ..cr.:
ah...good times....good times.

threadjack...!
My high school boyfriend's roommate was in the band. I hitched up with them a few times from SD to LA with them as they continued up to SF for shows. I have funny memories of getting dropped off at the Hawthorne exit of the 405 where my mom waited to meet me and pick me up. My poor mom. :)
Then there was the time we all trekked out for a CW show at (shudder) the Zendik Farm...that memory can be shared in person if you are interested!
Yeah, their shows were pretty fun. Just ran into one of them on BART late last year, it had been like twelve years since I had seen him. He is part of a thing called Extra Action Marching Band here in SF/Oakland.
