Re: Benefit in Baltimore for Dancer's family, July 27(AUCTION STUFF ADDED)
It was really an amazing event with so many wonderful perfomances. Lucy's performance was just breathtaking and it was so nice to see so many of us in the community coming together for her family. The silent auction was a lot of fun, but it was really awesome to know that everyone's participation meant much more than just winning something nice.
P.S. Amartia!!! I won your veil!!!

A message from my parents
:)
Dear Friends of Lucy,
When we lived on the Shenandoah river, it was fun to stand on the bridge, plunk a stone into the water and watch how a mere pebble could cause a series of ripples spreading so far in each direction. I thought about that when Lucy called us last evening telling us of the generosity and friendship you expressed last evening.
Your generosity is something for which we cannot adequately express thanks. All we can do is pass it along as we are able. Know that when you are in need, you will find your generous spirit returning to you in ways that you cannot foresee. If there is anything we have learned over the past months, it is the goodness of people, and their desire to be of help to others.
It is a humbling experience to be on the receiving end of giving - I think we all feel more comfortable being on the other side. But there are lessons we all need to learn in life, and one is the value of friendship over things. We do not take lightly that you reached into your pocket of hard-earned money and shared it with us.
We will always be grateful.
Eldon will receive news of his latest PET scan tomorrow. We'll then know whether more chemo or radiation is in the future. He looks healthier than in years, and you would not know that he had been so gravely ill just a few months ago. His next step is to regain his physical strength and endurance. We are grateful to his doctor for the excellent treatment he has given and we hope that we have many more years ahead of us. Soon we hope to come to another of Lucy's performances. Please come up and introduce yourselves. We would love to meet and thank you individually.
Sincerely,
Barbara and Eldon Bowman

It was a wonderful event, with fabulous performances. It was my honor to be a part of it and knowing I gave Lucy a smile put an extra shimmy in my step!
