Good day ladies.
> We are having a fundraising hafla on August 9th, 2008. This is an event to
raise funds
for my classmate Christine to run in the baltimore marathon in support of the
Leukemia/Lymphoma society. We will be having dinner/show/open dancing/ and a
silent
auction. :) The event is taking place in Long Green, MD. It is at the Long
Green Volunteer
Fire Hall, in the Long Green Gardens Room. Located at 4506 Long Green Rd, Glen
Arm,
MD 21057. Long Green Volunteer Fire Company
> We will be sending out a more formal email later with the prices and info on
how to buy
tickets if you would like to attend, as well as the exact location. But we
have a request to
make first. We need donations. We need dancers for the show, and items for the
silent
auction. We would also be interested in having local drummers perform, so if
there are
any out there, or if this info could be passed on to them we would appreciate
it. Any
donations are tax deductible, including performances. We will be providing
receipts for all
donations.
> Since many attendees are new dancers, we would like to have items in the
silent auction
that will help to build a dancers wardrobe. Any items are welcome, including
used items.
Also, if there is anyone out here that has a particular skill they wouldn't mind
donating a
session of (i.e. accupuncture, massage therapy, etc) that would be greatly
appreciated. As
I am a Rennie, and I know a lot of us out in this community are as well, we are
interested
in providing some garb items as well.

the seats, and
get the names of some local people out there into the community. :)

Just a quick note, the flyer for the silent auction items and performance line-up will be coming soon. We have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from the dance community and beyond and want to thank everyone! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

below is the 'thank you' from the organizer..........they raised a BOATLOAD of money for the foundation! amazing, expensive items for the silent auction were donated and won, and the show was very well attended, very high energy audience, many of whom have never SEEN a bellydance show, and great dancing by fellow bhuzzers such as lorelei, shems, myself, naimah, members of awamil who are bhuzzers and others that i many not know are on bhuz, so if you were there and a bhuzzer (i should have worn my button :p), show yerself LOL

I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone for their time and talent that they donated last night. Especially my mom for making all the yummy food, my husband Jim, Lauren and Lisa, who came to the hall at 8:00 a.m. and didn't leave until 12:00 a.m. last night. They are probably still sleeping after all that work. I would have never been able to pull this off without ALL of you. We raised close to $4,000 dollars for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, who knew a SHIMMY could do so much:)) I hope everyone had a great time, I am sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with all of you, but I guess that is part of being the host. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I am just so touched, some of you I had not even met until last night. It says so much for our community, I am truly blessed. I would like some feed back, on how to improve NEXT years event. That's right we will be doing this once a year, every year as long as I can still run in Marathons. If you have any ideas for improvement, please let me know.
