Thread: Going to NYC beginning of July!

I'm going to be in New York from July 1 to 9 (taking a dance course) and I will be looking for belly dance things to do. Where are good clubs to hear live ME music and see dancers? I am hoping to take some privates while I'm there (I'm thinking Ranya).

Any advice for a Canuck who will be in the city for her first time? ..g.:

I don't know of any ME clubs there but I did look at Ranya's website. Her performance coaching service looks really interesting. I wish I could go too. ..cr.:

There is the Cupping Room and Lafayette Grille which have dancers on certain nights. Ranya is so nice. www.asamed.org try their website for listings in NYC. So much to do and the variety of teachers workshops etc. You will have a great time in NYC

Lafayette Grill (manhattan) has dancing on Friday nights and Mezzo Mezzo (Astoria) has dancing on Saturday nights. If you contact Chris Marashlian you can find out who is dancing at Mezzo Mezzo. For Lafayette Grill you can just call the restaurant to ask. They BOTH have the most amazing bands! Truly wonderful.
The Cupping Room, last I knew was put on hold, unfortunately. :(

The Noga group is now playing at Woolworth Tower Kitchen Woolworth Tower Kitchen // 212 571 2930 on Wed. nights. Definitely check them out, they're amazing musicians and there's a different dancer every week.
