Thread: anyone competing in Jewel of the Nile 2008?

I'm still debating....and if anyone has info on what selling program advertisements entails, I would appreciate it!! I've emailed the organizers, but they're on vacation through July 4th

argh, the thought of dance competitions makes me nervous! The last time I did competitive dance was Irish step dancing in 1st and 2nd grade....

It's like a pageant, where you sell a certain dollar amount of ads. Each contestant is required to sell ad space. I don't remember what the amount was. It can be personal ads, or ads for businesses.

I am! Alexandra Ahnide puts on the event every other year. My first time there was in 2006. I won 1st-runner-up!
Going back in 2008 because it was so much fun. Friendly environment in nice location and the contest doesn't last all night like some I've been in.
Selling the ads/getting sponsors is kind of a pain, but you'll find them! Responsible for selling $400 worth. Money obviously goes towards putting on a 1st class contest.
