Thread: DC-area Bhuzzers: Planet Arlington this Saturday! Lebanese singer Tania Saleh, others

Hi, all! Just a reminder to DC-area denizens that the huge Planet Arlington world music festival will be held today, August 30th, on the grounds of the Iwo Jima Memorial. The main stage this year features vocalist Tania Saleh of Lebanon, Solas, and other artists, and it promises to be a great show.

I really love this event because it showcases not just great music from all over the world (last year: Lila Downs!) but also the rich multicultural diversity that is one of the very best things about living in this area.
There's interesting stuff for all ages going on all day. A small group of dancers from Saffron Dance will be opening for Tania Saleh in the evening, and others of us will be helping Saphira do mini-lessons all afternoon. If you see us, please stop by for a shimmy. Look for the hip scarves, and bring your sunscreen because we're hoping for beautiful weather. Hope to see you there!
