Thread: Hadia in Florida next week!

Anyone else going to Hadia's workshop December 6 and 7? If so, lets meet up!!! I understand this may be one of Hadia's last workshops for a while and perhaps my only chance to study with her, so I am definitely there.

Got details, Souzan? Not that I can make it, but I love to torture myself looking up airline fares from NY. Will she be in Orlando?

Hadia is scheduled to be in Richmond, VA next November for the annual Women of Selket workshop and show. I'm already excited about it!

She is sponsored by Global Dance Arts in Gainesville, Florida (univ of florida hometown). Zarifa Sa'id always brings in top notch teachers and it is always a joy to see who she will have next. It is my understanding that Hadia is taking a break and cutting back on workshops and shows for a while.

Taj, this is in Gainesville. University town north of Orlando. Much cheaper than Orlando at this time of year! The location is a wonderful Indian arts and cultural center with lots of room, a REAL stage with curtains, green room, etc.

Zarifa Sa'id, who sponsors it, always does a nice job brining top notch teachers in for workshops.

Well, I went ahead and tortured myself--airfare from Rochester to Gainsville would be, at the cheapest, over $500. Zowie! You'll just have to post all about it so I can experience it vicariously!!

Try torturing yourself this way--airfare to Jacksonville or to Orlando and rent a car. About an hour drive from either of those larger cities.

I was going to try to go but turns out just can't afford it right before christmas - as is the case with a lot of people I know, sadly (I take classes in gainesville) :-( ... I am going to see if I can see the show saturday night, though

You know you can always sign up for just one day. Saturday she is teaching Egyptian technique and combinations. Hope you can make it to the show. I am dancing. Look for the fluffy lady with red hair and white gallabyia (I'm doing baladi) Who do you take classes with? I am in Tallahassee.

This will be Zarifa Sa'id's last seminar. She always does lovely events but she has stated this will be her swan-song. Sadly I cannot be there either.

i'm not but i will be in acapulco with her for teacher training the following week! yippee!
