Thread: JtE 3 in Egypt - who's going?

it's probably not likely to work out for me financially, but I would really, really like to attend. Who's gonna be there or who's thinking about it?

I am hoping it works out (if I can get hubby and my mom on board with the child care...) :)

Trip info is now posted on Sahra's site. Looks like we can lock in the lowest price if there are 10 people committed with a deposit by Jan. 15th.

She divided it into JtE 3 in Cairo area and JtE 4 in Upper Egypt too. yikes!! it sounds so awesome.

I'll be seeing Sahra this weekend so we're sure to get more details. Are you coming to JtE 2?

was kinda hoping it would be under the tree... but no. So far haven't rustled up the moolah. I may get desperate! :)

Nasila - have you heard anything about an oriental workshop Jan 17-18th? It was on her schedule, and now it's disappeared! I already got the time off work and everything. :)

She did an Oriental workshop last January, but I haven't heard anything about this year.

In case you didn't see it, she's also added another JtE 1 and JtE 2, on back-to-back weekends in the San Diego area, before the Egypt trips... (ETA sorry, they're after Egypt in August)

While I'll be in Cairo then, I won't be joining Sahra's rip. Anyone who goes I hope you have oddles and gobs of fun!

Whaa??? No way! Checking now...I have no money though. Don't even know why I'm trying!

Ok, well I think I'll be doing the two back to back JtE's (I have to make up JtE 1 cause I missed the last day...stupid work!) and then going to Egypt in 2010...Plenty of time to save up right?

I'm shooting for 2010 as well, so I hope Sahra does it again! I just don't think I can afford it in 2009, plus I'm already signed up for her weeklong intensive in Orlando just a week or 2 before JtE-3 & 4.

Me too, I'll be in Cairo then but not joining Sahra's trip. It sounds like a great experience for anyone who goes.

I'm debating the trip...deposit has to be in by January 15th to secure the lowest rate!!

In case anyone's interested, Sahra has lined up Reda and Farida for the Giza/Cairo portion and is hoping to get Aida Nour as well for JtE 3, which falls a few days after Nile Group.

JtE 4 in Upper Egypt overlaps with Raqia's festival, but Sahra plans on having locals teach us indigenous dances of the Sa'id and Nubian region, as well as Ghawazee and tahtib basics.

Anyone who attends the 4-day JtE 3 (June 22-26 I think) is allowed to come back and do JtE 4 whenever they like, as it will change each year. Next year will most likely be in May and include Alexandria and the Delta region (as many of these dances need to be documented before they completely disappear). Subsequent years will include Siwa, the Sinai region and possibly the Eastern Desert bedouin, the Beja tribes.

any other Bhuzzers doing this? deposit is due tomorrow....eeep!!
