Thread: Bhuz meetup at and after Aisha Ali workshops in DC?

A friend and I have registered for the Aisha Ali workshops on February 21 and 22, we will come to D.C. from out-of-town. Any Bhuzzers at this workshop? Also, what else is going on this weekend - great, not-to-be-missed shows? My ideal Saturday evening entertainment would be a Bhuz meetup somewhere cozy with live music and a great dancer, followed by an open dance floor.

My dance partner and I will be at the workshop. It would be fun to get a bunch of people together. I'll talk to her, since she always plans brilliant outings. We have a lot of great dancers in the area, so it will be a snap to find something fun.

I'll be at the workshop! My commute is about an hour each way, so Bhuz shenanigans will be dependent on my energy level...

If anyone wants to stop by Casablanca later Noor Jihan and I are both performing and hanging out all night. The band starts around 10:45, I do a show and then there are 3 singers and a lot of open floor dancing.

Hi there! I'm probably going to have to miss the workshops -- dammit -- but would love to come out with friends for some late-night boogie. Do you know what time Noor-Jihan is likely to perform? (Meaning, are you both on after 10:45 or is one of you dancing earlier?) It would be a treat to see the two of you. For out-of-towners: they're well worth staying up for!

Noor performs around 8pm and I perform around 8:45pm and again at 11pm. The earlier shows are to recorded music.

My mom is going to be there with me since she is taking the workshops :)

I just talked to my friend - and she's all game for this project, with good dancing, food, drinks and general merriment with Bhuzzers! So, what do we have to do?

I can make a reservation for us at Casablanca, I just need to know how many people we are going to have.

I'm trying to get a head count from friends and will e-mail you by noon, Shahrzad, if I have some firm numbers. If not, we'll all just have to meet up on the dance floor!

What time are you reserving for? Noor-Jihan is on at 7:30, she says. I don't know if that's too big a time-span for people to see you both dance and hear the band...?

Just let me know an estimate. Ive decided to make the reservation for around 10:30 since that sounds like when everyone will be showing up. Then we can all dance to the band and you can catch my show. You're right, its a really long time between the first shows and the live band one.

I *might* come by. I have another obligation earlier in the day, and I wear out easily lately. (OMG I'm freaking HUGE.) But I'd love to meet/see everyone, and I'd LOVE to see Vasha dance!

Everyone have a drink and a shimmy for me. Car problems and the resulting financial issues are preventing me from attending the workshops and I can't afford to take the night off.

I have to miss the workshops, unfortunately, but will be at Casablanca with Kiyaana and Mayyadah and whoever else I can round up. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Ah, I am finally getting my brains back together. It was an amazing trip, Aisha Ali was wonderful and I learned so much - wow! It was another day when learning a lot made me realize how much I *don't* know.

And, it was great to meet lots of fabulous Bhuzzers - Shadiyah (I'll never forget buying eye kandy in that parking lot! Told the story to my husband, who was somewhat disturbed by it.), Noor, Fionna, Latifa, Zana, Kiyaana, Thalia, and everybody who slipped from my memory - it was a looooong, overloaded weekend. What a great experience to meet everybody, it makes Bhuzzing different.

Finally, OMG - Sharazad knocked my socks off on and off stage. She is an incredible dancer, so sweet, gorgeous - and I could be her mother! I am still trying to pull my ego together and find excuses for my own inadequacies ;-)

Thanks all - it was a great weekend, I was deeply impressed, and I'll be back!!!

Steffi! Hi! (**waving across the miles**) It was great meeting you and yes, we just have another "parking lot deal" story to add to the glitter history! Did you tell him about the dancer who got a speeding ticket after her purchase since she was so excited to finally get her favorite colors and didn't notice the posted speed limit? That always cracks people up!!
I wish I could have attended the workshops & the after party at Casablanca but other obligations called. I know you all had a great time! You're absolutely correct as well that Shahrzad is a WONDERFUL dancer! She is as wonderful on the inside too!
