It will be a fun-packed weekend with Karim teaching 4 workshops (tahteeb & dabka, musicality, finger cymbals, and drumming) and a dance show...

...and as though that is not enough, the SIUC School of Music will be sponsoring Karim to present a solo percussion performance Sunday evening that will be ABSOLUTELY FREE FOR EVERYONE!

Please join us on the beautiful Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus in November. We are easy driving distance from many places in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

and I was reminded I needed to post a little "save the date" note here to let everyone in my region know we are bringing Karim to the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus Nov. 7/8 of this year. In case you're not familiar with our little town, we are within a reasonable driving distance of central Illinois, St. Louis and other parts of Missouri, southeastern Indiana, northern Kentucky and Tennessee.

A rough draft of the schedule of events is as follows:

Saturday Nov. 7
Arabic folk dance workshop covering Dabka and Tahtib
Musicality for dancers (various concepts in music interpretation)
Sat. Evening dance show in a nice theater featuring Karim performing folk dances plus our dance company and invited regional dancers.

Sunday Nov. 8
Finger cymbal class for dancers
Drumming workshop
Solo percussion recital by Karim (sponsored by the SIUC School of Music)

we anticipate having full details, pricing and registration packets online in June.

Chellcy and Christina of Blue Lotus Tribe will be sponsoring Karim Nagi for a weekend of workshops and a show. Workshops will be held at Visceral Dance Chicago. Details TBA.
