Thread: Will be in New York next week, help!

Hello bellydancers, i will be visiting New York for short 5 days and would love to know where are the good places to see a show. I will be staying in mid Manhattan so i should be able to go anywhere. It would be super awesome if i could hook up with a local performer to go see a show together. I absolutely love oriental/cabaret, but not into tribal. so if a teacher/performer in the big apple is reading this and would like company one eve out get back to me. And if you don't have time to go out but would kindly give me some tips, i would really appreciate too.

You may want to try Sarah Skinner's website. She always has listings of NYC bellydance performances. I was there back in June and had hoped to meet up with someone too or at least see a performance, but time just got away from me while we were there! Next time, I hope.

Hi Mariyah, i arrive tuesday july 24th and leave sun the 29th. This trip kind of snak up on me and did not have time to do my research. just remembered too that Yousry's academy will be hosting workshops that weel. do you know much about that?

Oh you lucky girl - if I were you I would definitely go to Yousry's show with Aida Nour and Tito and about 30 more other dancers trained by Yousry... It is one time only on 26th

Tito is teaching a master class on Sat. the 28th, don't miss it!!!
He taught Yousry's class on Thursday and he's sooo good and patient. If he taught in NYC regularly I think I'd convert to Egyptian style only.

Yes Tito was great thursday and friday, and the master class with Aida yesterday also. Bellydancing in New York is a great experience ! maybe we could do a Bhuz meet-up ? I'm here for the whole week-long.

I am thinking of going to Serena Studios summer show friday night. Dorit is performing- she is amazing. And Athena Najat is home from Greece and she is performing!!! must see. Live music. And then students from Serena Studios- which would be a different flavor from Yousary.

Sat night Bashira is performing at Mezzo just on the near side of queens- GREAT LIVE BAND.

To bad you are leaving on sunday- I perform sunday night at Figaro- live band- it is such a nice place, friendly.
