Thread: Bhuz Meetup: Ahlan Cairo Nights Montreal April 25-26

Just wondering who else will be there? I am driving up from Boston. I couldn't miss the chance to take a workshop with Randa.

I live in Montreal, but it's to soon since my hysterectomy to start dancing. But I'm thinking about going to see the Friday night show.

I plan on going to (perhaps) both the Friday and Saturday night shows. I probably won't take any workshops, but that could change...g.:

I have one - I am bringing another bhuzzer with me from Boston and we may even have a third person in our room (her friend - not a bellydancer). So...we're a bit full right now.

Lesgimini - last year there were nametags - mine will either say Shannon or Nepenthe (or both?).

I'm not dancing - just planning to enjoy the shows! I hope Hadia dances again.

Hadia's in Nova Scotia now - Last I spoke with her, she was not coming down for this workshop. That said, she's been known to change her mind!

I'm not coming this year... Little Egypt owes me a video or refund despite my consistent efforts, and I couldn't bring myself to go to this until the issue was settled.

Anyhow, y'all have a great time! Last year's event was incredible, aside from poor Ahmed's passing. If someone gets a chance - I hope someone initiates a minute of silence for he and the family.

I highly recommend this event too. Great local artists performing & you could eat for less than 10$ !!! Also a nice way to meet people in the dance community

P.S. There's time to dance at the end too :)

QUESTIONS (for the locals:)) - Is Little Egypts's A.C.N. actually in downtown Montreal?? And what are the other closest hotels to the Doubletree (where the ACN event is being held)?

The reason I'm asking is b/c even though I have the discounted reservations w/Doubletree, my travel agent and those budget travel search sites have emailed me some really good hotel deals in downtown Montreal. ...But would it be worth it for me to stay at another (albeit) much cheaper hotel if I end up having to pay lots of $ for cab rides or whatnot to get to the event venue?

Montreal is a city thats very easy to get around in. Taking the metro (subway) is fast, cheap & convenient.
I just google mapped the doubletree and its right near Sherbrooke metro which is very close to downtown. To give you an idea, if you stay at a hotel in the heart of downtown, you would be close to McGill Metro station. The metro ride would take max 10 minutes and would cost $2.75 one way. If you take a taxi it'll cost you about 10$ one way.

For more reference Sherbrooke metro is actually in the Plateau area of Montreal. Its very trendy & there are LOTS of good restaurants around

I love that area of Montreal! I am so looking forward to this - hopefully we'll get some time to go out and do a little bit of exploring before the shows start.

I had a FANTABULOUS time in Montreal (Bee-Yoo-Tee-Ful City!) this weekend. And such warm, lovely people I met everywhere!!!

All the workshop instructors were wonderful, but Randa Kamel in particular = WOW-WOW-WOW!!! Talk about intensive powerful movements & energy!!!

CONGRATS to Salome for winning the Queen of the Nile BD Competition!!!

Angelica-Dear, you're a Doll! :) Everyone was just lovely! :))

For me, Dr. Mo was the highlight of the weekend. I had no idea how much I would love his two workshops. I have become a huge fan of his teaching.

Of course, seeing Randa dance would have been worth the entire trip!

The location of this hotel was great - loved being able to walk down St. Denis in 80 degree weather.

I agree with you about Dr. Mo being a wonderful teacher - He really does a fantastic job of calmly, encouragingly and thoroughly explaining and breaking down a choreography.

Ah! I wish I could have afforded all the workshops. I only got to take Randa's. Im glad it went well though

Salome, are you on Facebook? If so, please look me up (Lesly Zafirah) and "friend" me! :) I hope you don't mind, I posted the pic I took of me & you (your crown, your sash, your trophy, etc.... Hahaha:)). You looked absolutely lovely, and it was sooo cool that you were in costume!!! :)

Oh man, I can't believe that we all didn't connect at the event when I was right there. I KNEW we should have had Bhuz buttons.

I loved all the classes but I thought Randa's class was really well taught. It's the 3rd workshop I have had with her and I learned the most this time.
