Hi! Anyone heading to Glendale this weekend for Raqs LA?

when will you be there? i'd love to say hi to bhuzers.

Is there a schedule of performers anywhere?

I am not sure when I will go...but would like to see the show Sat. night........

Saturday is slammed for me, I think I'll be be able to make it Sunday. I heard there's only one stage this time so the spots filled quickly, but I don't think they published the dance times yet.

I'll be at Raqs LA. I'm teaching Bollywood for Bellydance Combinations there this year. Workshop from 1:20 - 3:20 on Saturday. (8 spots left, run and gett'em and help a fellow buzzer be a sell out success lol).

Dancing at 5 pm on Saturday. Hope to see ya'll.

I'll be coming with a few of my dancers on Saturday for workshops and show that eve. We are performing on Sunday @ 12:30pm. And one student is performing for the teen showcase @4pm.

And those here that know me do know by now that I like to try to squeeze in a dinner & dance excursion while I am down there in LA ..g.: I really thought this time would be too much to do on Saturday night w/ the BDSS show and all, but then I found out Samara from Lebanon is dancing at the Mirage Restaurant in Encino Sat. night (about 20 mins away from Glendale), and that my favorite Middle Eastern band is playing at the Phoenician Restaurant in Glendale also. Both are suppose to have good food! Do I drag my dancers there and keep them up to the wee hours and make the perform Sunday?! Or do I just go to the BDSS show and back to the hotel after???!!

Any one want to help enable me in my trying to do too much in one weekend habit?

NO DOUBT..you have to see it ALL! I will be right behind you...lol! There is enough time to sleep when you gt home! Don't pass up ANY fun over the weekend!!

Hi Sabrina...yes, go ahead and add three to your reservation (might be two more but won't know for a bit)! Amir said he would get us a table too if I got back to him, but we might as well be all together, much more fun.

I have been a long time friend of Mohamed Salem's also, and haven't been able to see the band play for the last year...I've been very out of the loop. So I was excited to hear where they were and that it was close to where we would be staying. Of course I was also excited to hear about Samara from Lebanon dancing at the Mirage Sat night and made a reservation there but I was torn!
So this makes the decision easier...Phoenicia with friends and an awesome band ..g.:

yes, don't remember who the dancer is, i'm sure they have a great show.
wish i could go to samara, but booked here in sd for gigs. didn't get the samara email till last week & was too late :(

I should clear up some confusion on where & when Samara is dancing with little as I know. She is dancing this Saturday night @ Mirage Restaurant in Encino. And then next weekend is the workshop series @ Jillana's studio and she will also be dancing that Fri & Sat @ Mirage (although their website says differently?) according to Jillana's email she sent. Who knows, maybe Samara is dancing there tonight too?

But, we are going to Phoenicia this Sat. night which is close to the Raqs LA venue and Mohamed Salem's band is playing...not sure who is dancing. :-). Wish we could be two places at once, or convince Samara to come dance at Phoenicia too ;-). I can dream.

Was thinking about driving 3+ hours again next weekend to come to the Samara workshops and/or show, but I am trying to save up for my trip to Egypt in June!! Too much is enticing me...

Gotcha! I saw the weekend shows in Jill's email and just assumed it was this weekend. Next Friday night she's doing a workshop too, so she must be going straight from one to the other. Wow. Trying to decide if I want to spend my birthday evening in a Lebanese style workshop...

I am such a dork! You know what Nasila, when I look back at Jillina's email it lists the workshops for May 1-3 and then at the end says "don't miss Samara in a Live Performance @ Mirage on Friday & Saturday." There was no dates about the show so at the time to me it meant the same weekend as the workshops. Now it makes more sense that it is actually this weekend she is at Mirage & next weekend just the workshops. Confusing!

Nice Birthday celebration or taking a Lebanese style workshop w/ Samara? tough one, Nasila :-). Again wish we could be at least two places at once!

I just called Mirage and Samara is dancing on Sat, April 25th.
Cost is $45 incl dinner/dessert

Hey Nasila!,
I cant go because I'm picking a friend up from the airport at 11:30. I was there last week & it slower than ever because of coptic easter. but the band, like always, was great.
Layla dances there solo...but she might be on vacation.
