Thread: San Diego July 8th-15th

I'm headed to San Diego! My time will be be mostly devoted to family, but are there any special events/shows I should know about that week? ,r:;

I dont know if there is anything special going on that week here, but the regular restaurant gigs are going strong as usual at places such as, but not limited to:

Haji Baba's
Zorbas
Alborz

I'm sure others will chime in with more places that have dance.

If you are interested in taking a class or two while here;
I teach on Wednesdays and am available for privates

There are other teachers that teach throughout the week too :)

I went to Zorba's for my birthday when I was there in May visiting my twin. We had a fabulous time.

i'm running out the door and will return on monday. pm me or email me and i'll send you a list of everything that weekend.

So cool you will be here.
Rachel is faboulus, she dances at Mirage and Med Cafe hookah lounge, if you call me I can get you over there from Zorbas.
July 10 and 11th 7:30pm and 9:30pm we have two shows at Zorbas, delicious Greek Buffet, live music, drumming, singer both in Greek, Arabic

I will be at Birdhouse Turkish Restaurant on Friday 7:30pm, small, really fun, super good food restaurant up North of San Diego, Encinitas
Then I have Alborz, Persian restaurant in Del Mar, I will be there 8:30pm show.
and then I am heading my way down to my regular gig Zorbas, we do have choreographed shows there...3 dancers with entrance, veil or slower song, candle or sword dance, drum solo, finale and 1/2 solos in between....

Saturday i will be at Troys, Greek Restaurant in Mission Valley are 7pm, and Zorbas for 10pm show.

Zorbas is the only place with yummy Greek food, live music, 3 dancers choreoraph or live shows. I highly recommend it ;-)

David, I'd love to take one of your classes again! Unfortunately I am both flying in and leaving on Wednesdays so I don't know if it will work out schedule wise.
Going to see the show at Zorba's is a definite possibility!

The Marrakech in La Jolla has belly dance shows every night .you should definitely call to let them know you want to see the show Sun - Thursday, otherwise they may not have one :( .
I'll be there on that Friday. Also at Cafe Sevilla there is a Flamenco fusion show - live music by Joef from the Gypsy Kings family, flamenco dancer and a belly dancer (me). It's 7:30 - 9:00 pm, you can catch other late night shows after that.

ok, so it looks like you got the local scoop. i'll be dancing @ labyrinth of jareth in l.a. that weekend so no san diego shows for me, but:
if you'd like to take a class i'll be teaching thurs july 9 & mon july 13. you are welcome to drop in either or both. you can find all the info on my website

I texted with Rachel and she won't be in town during the time you will be here.

At least go to Zorba's or Bird House Grill to catch Dilek in action (she is the reigning 2009 BDUC champion!) ..g.:

There are always shows in San Diego to see, you just have to make a choice.....

My schedule in case you like to come see as follows:
Friday 10th: 7:45pm Birdhouse Turkish Restaurant, small but so much fun, good food, 8:30pm Alborz Persian Restaurant, nice elegant restaurant with live Persian Music. I dance to CD, long curved stage, 9:30pm Zorbas with live music (3 dancers various styles and props), amazing buffet, great price.
Saturday: 7pm Troys Greek Restaurant, older crowd, CD music, nice stage, I have wedding in between, 10pm Zorbas show, to our Arabina Dance Company Choreographed show includes props, floorwork, drum solo, veil... I dont have solo that night I think.
