Thread: Shimmy Tecumseh was so fun!

Thanks Amira & all the Ohio & Michigan dancers we met for extending a warm welcome to two haggard travelers from Knoxville! We had such fun! Amira's daughter danced such a cute duet with her lovely momma, and we really really really fell in love with KayLouise's intense "Anne Rice" style theatrical number on Saturday night!! ..g.:

SO FUN! Amirah, Congratulations again on your first Shimmy Tecumseh! Perfect weather and incredible line up of dancers both Friday and Saturday night! Thank you for including me, I had such a great time! Looking forward to next year!!!

Oh heck yes we are doing that again:) I had a blast and am still just amazed at all the wonderful dancers who came out and inspired us! There is only 1 cabin left for next year...I teased my aunt that they were going to have to put up a few more cabins for us for next year because we needed more:)

September 24-26th....I think that will work:) My son's b-day is the 19th so better not schedule things that weekend and since Hiptastic is the weekend before next year maybe I can go:) Yeah!

Cabins can be booked through the campground website Camping in Southeast, Michigan or through me. Give me a day or two to clear the dates with the campground and then we will open up the hooplah:)

Nilaja, Magda and I have dibs on the cabin!! Pleeeze!! I don't want to miss this next year -- already on my calendar.

OK, we REALLY need the cabin. You see, one of us is OLD with really creaky knees. Absolutely cannot crawl into a tent. Well, can get in OK, it's the getting out part that requires heavy equipment.

And you REALLY need to see the Lem-Inc Road Show. Trust me on this one.

Yay! Yes, girls, this event was awesome, and it was really great meeting all of you. There were so many unique, inspiring performances. Owie! My body's only now finally done hurtin' from all the challenging workshops, too! Thanks a bunch, and hopefully I can make it next year!

The dates have been confirmed with the campground so give them a call and get your cabin..g.: The number (I don't think they will charge you until you arrive but its $120 for the 2 nights and late checkout Sunday) 1-517-423-5659. Y'all can split it.

Full workshop packages are $295 through March 1, 2010 ($380 after that). If it doesn't fill up then I will open up the a la carte option. Just like this year you can get in on the scrumptuous food (thank you Angie) for $35 for the weekend and show tickets for $25 both nights or $10 Hafla and $18 show. Vending is still $100 and we will get a tent again for ya..g.:
when I send out comfirmations I will email a pass to get into the campground...that was a pain this year and really was just a miss-communication between them and myself. My repeat vendors who want to come back I will comp you into the shows cause I love you tickets will be available for your fams though at the $25 price

What's in Ann Arbor? lol I won't be at GLBDC this year if that's the one you are talking about (wait or is that in November?) too many other committments. I am performing in Ultra Lounge on the 3rd and heading down to Habeebas for the Aradia workshop on the 17th. Usually i only get one a month but since KayLouise's event is so close by and there are no workshops for it, I snuck in a freebie ..g.:

Instructor wise I am looking at who I want to have back and who I will bring in new...wanna be on my list? ..g.:

Donna Diva teaches an amazing poi veil class, Killer zill and fabulous hula.. those I know first hand!

I am really torn because all the instructors were fabulous but I want to have a variety so that people don't think..eh oh I have already taken with so and so...but then again they also might go...oh I was hoping that instructor would be back.... ugh...decisions decisions:) lol

Audrey and I had a wonderful time at camp this year too! There were so many lovely and friendly folks to chat and hang out with and the level of concentration in the workshops was amazing!! As teachers I don't know if we've ever taught a workshop with a more dedicated group of students!!

My son Alex had a great time too and was making plans for next year as we were packing up.... "next year we should bring....."

Thanks Amirah for a wonderful experience! We hope to be back next year!!

You gals were fantastic! Thank you so much for hauling all the way to Michigan:) We did have a good group of serious students who wanted to learn...it was very cool:)
I loved the fact that although you were teaching tribal moves, it was so easy to see how to use them in a cabaret styling. My abs looked great after all that work:) I think I finally understand the muscular movements instead of skeletal now. Only took me like 9 years lol. I am gonna be in town for Dina...will I see you two there?
Tell Alex he is welcome to come back... my boys will be around next year and I am going to build in some down time for the rock wall and zipline so he won't miss them.
