Thread: Canadian Gals???? Belly Dance Intensive 2010

I am absolutely *dying* to go to the Belly Dance Intensive in Vegas next year and hoping to get myself set up on the payment plan before September 30th. Is anyone else from Canada (and more specifically Ontario) going? Looks like a blast but don't want to be a wallflower. Hmmm....like that would happen with these ladies...he he.

Azaleah, there were so many folks from Canada this year. It seems that Canadians love this city!! Seriously, we had at least 25-30 people attending from various parts of Canada, including Ontario.

Just sign up. I'll help you find a roommate if you need one. Sometimes that is the best way to meet folks. And our locals are great too.

Join our fanpage on Facebook too. Perhaps you can meet some other folks that are coming.

Sabeya is from Vancouver and was one of the instructors there this year, so there was a fairly big Vancouver contingent. Vancouverites love Vegas! Its close and cheap! Alas, I doubt I'm going to make it next year, I'm spending all my $$ on IBCC in April.

Actually, I was considering heading to Vancouver (Pitt Meadows) to stay with family prior to going! Might as well make a full holiday out of it! Love B.C.

It's been a great year to negotiate for room rates here in Vegas! We are especially excited to have secured a large room block at the FLAMINGO at rates well under the norm for the next 3 years.

Our 2010 guestroom rates are as follows:

Deluxe Rooms--Weeknights $59/Weekends $89
GO Deluxe Rooms--Weeknights $99/Weekends $129

As I am sure that most of you know, these are exceptional rates for being on the world-famous "Strip".

I have had a number of concerned attendees contact me to say that the 2010 weekend at the Flamingo is already sold out. This is true; however, we have a guaranteed room block, so there is nothing to be worried about at this point in time!

Dilek is teaching this year. :) So she will definitely be there. Yay!!

We have a couple of dancers, myself included, going this year. We are from Trail BC. Last year was so much fun. I am sure we will have more in our group as we get closer to September. There were lots of other Canadian dancers there in 2009. Maybe all the Canadian dancers can do a get-together, that would be fun, eh?

Maybe we need to have "I am from Canada" buttons as well. LOL.

Hmmmm, buttons. Well, as hokey as those "hello, my name is ...." tags are, they do serve as icebreakers.

We own a button maker, but it's just the little 1 inch buttons. But it's nice to have them as relatively unobtrusive ways of saying "Bhuz" or "Canada", etc. Icebreakers can be a good thing.

Hmmm, Canadian buttons would be fun!

2010 Pro-Show Auditions for the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive

We are always on the lookout for talented performers of ALL different styles. We want to produce the best show possible with a wide range of talented artists. Diversity is the name of the game for us. We tend to get a lot of submissions for soloists, but less submissions for troupes & duos. We get a fair amount of oriental submissions but less tribal fusion, ATS, or folkloric submissions to consider.

You do not need to submit a video of your actual choreography or performance. What we want to see is how dynamic you can be on stage. Your submission video does not need to be limited in terms of time; however, your actual performance in our show will be strictly limited to 5 minutes or less.

We look forward to seeing your submissions.

Whoo hoo...very exciting!!

Tis true! Our festival performances spots on Saturday are now full. Sunday is more than half full. I suspect that our entire festival will be full by the end of May if not sooner. If you are intending on performing but you haven't filled out the online form, then you should consider registering today!

YAY!! I check into the hotel on Wednesday. I doubt I'll make it to the pool, but ya never know. Very exciting. Be sure to ask for your BHUZ buttons at the registration desk so we can find each other during the event. And even if I look busy, please say hello. I means so much to me to meet the folks who travel so far to the event.

Online registration ends today, so if anyone hasn't gotten their tickets, then be sure to do so right away.
