Thread: I'm teaching in Vietnam! & visiting Hong Kong - dancer meetups?

well its happening! i'm going to teach and perform in ho chi minh city, vietnam the first week in november *squee*
i've connected with some bhuzers there but don't want to miss anyone.

the second week of november, i'll be in hong kong. (flight goes through there so might as well stop right?) any bhuzers in hk? anyone know dancers in hk?

you know its a moral imperative to seek out our own kind while traveling

ok. cool. will do. i wonder if we will be there at the same time or if they are making a huge program of bringing/rotating international teachers? that would be really great for everyone. *fantasizes about bringing lots of international teachers to san diego*

Oh, how wonderful. I was supposed to meet up with a fellow Bhuzzer when I was in Hong Kong in January, but it didn't work out, unfortunately. I got sick, and she had something come up. Hope you have better luck.

Might I suggest my favourite site to visit in Hong Kong, if you have the chance? It's the Chi Lin Bhuddist nunnery/temple and Nan Lian gardens in Kowloon. (They are at the same location, very easy to get to by MTR (subway).) Also, in the gardens, there's a nice little vegetarian restaurant hidden behind a waterfall. Also, if you don't know this already, I recommend getting an Octopus card. You can buy it right at the airport, and you can get one that includes the airport train to/from the airport. (The airport connects with MTR, and there are even a couple of MTR stations where you can check your luggage right through to the plane before you board the airport train.

Lucky you!!! I don't any dancers in Vietnam or Hong Kong but I had the opportunity to spend a week in Hong Kong last summer. In addtion to Chi Lin and Nan Lian, I highly recommend Tian Tan Buddha and Po Ling monastery on Lantau (same island as the airport).

There's the coolest aerial tram called the Ngong Ping tram that takes you directly to the Buddha. You're going to have a great time.

Hi Trang!! My name is Ly in Vietnamese (Lily/Lillian on the forums). I have been living in the US for about 20 years now. I was born in Tra On, Vinh Long. And lived in Tam Binh, Vinh Long for about five years before I came to the US. I'm glad the Raqs Sharqi arts have penetrated the Vietnamese culture as well. Cultural diffusion is absolutely beautiful.

How long have you been studying belly dancing? =)
