Thread: IBCC Toronto - April 2010: who is in?

I've been averse to announcing this on Bhuz for some reason, but last year Barbara Sellers-Young invited me to be part of her globalisation panel at the IBCC and naturally I said yes. So I'm a featured speaker.

I am very excited and I'm travelling a LONG way to get there, but apart from some of the tutors who I only know from workshop settings, I won't know anybody. So if any of you are planning to go, speak up - it would be nice to catch up!

I'm sooo determined to try & go to this (what with this being a milestone year for me, and all!:))... but it might have to go down to the wire [=waiting on my tax refund]

I thought Lotus was bringing you all up there for it? Not this year?

I'll be up for bits and pieces. Not sure which yet, but definitely for the Gala show and if there is space, I will be up for some of the workshops. Time and funds limit me from doing too much of these week-long sorts of things - I'm doing Hadia's Pro Course this summer. I find I benefit more from individualized instruction with feedback than from large workshops, but sure wish I could do it all!

Congrats, Zum! Everyone I know who's been, has had a wonderful time.

Not going to a ton of workshops since I desperately need a vacation, so I'm spending some time with family!

I'll be there! I am dancing on Wednesday at the opening night gala and then again with Zikrayat on Saturday night. :)

I live in Toronto and dance with Arabesque so I will definitely be there :) look forward to meeting everyone and catching up with friends from the last 2 conferences.

So I'm really getting excited about the IBCC, this will be my first year attending. It was a very late decision to even go, an event canceled and freed up that week, so I'm happy they found a slot for me to perform, since it was already booked up! The versatility of the instructors is very impressive!!

Where is everyone staying? Any IBCC veterans that can recommend the best form of transportation, things to know about the event/travel??..g.:

I'm staying at the Delta Chelsea, and I have NO idea where that is, lol, but I gather there's a bus or a train.

I am getting super excited too!

I know, I'm not even quite sure how long due to the dateline thing. I leave in the morning of the 20th and arrive on the evening of the 20th but I'll have been in the air at least 25 hours at my latest reckoning, plus downtime in Sydney. Wacky. I'm stocking up on jetlag tips from very seasoned travellers - it's been 15 years since I last crossed the dateline and I didn't really have to be *functional* when I arrived!

It is all very very exciting. However, could you guys tell the US dollar to stop strengthening please? I haven't bought my currency yet! Come on 75 cents, JUST for a week or so!

Zumarrad - I'll be staying at the Delta Chelsea too with 3 others. The public transportation from there to the conference venue is quite easy, and a very short walk to the Gala performance. Toronto's subway/streetcar/bus system is really easy to navigate.
And if shared, cabs aren't terribly expensive.

Oh, awesome, Rafiqa! Yes, I was looking at the map and they're not really that far apart. When do you arrive? I'm there from the 20th.

We're probably arriving late on the 20th, giving us all day Wednesday to have fun in Toronto before the first night's show. We're about a 3 hour drive from there, not far over the Canadian/US border.
I can't believe it's only 2 weeks away!
