Thread: Bhuz Meet Up 2011

If it's the burbs of Chicago, then I suggest Schaumburg. It's accessible to the expressways (for travels into the city), Woodfield Mall (for shopping), near O'Hare (for travels to/fro), a large assortment of restaurants and hotels, couple of hookah bars. Have I missed anything???

I agree Basia. Schaumburg is a good place. Lots to do and right off the expressway. Easy access to Downtown. Yay! This is gonna be awesome! Heck I only live 20 mins from Schaumburg but I might even stay at the hotel just because we could stay up all night!!!

schaumburg sounds good to me...I can go visit my family in Island Lake and Milwaukee!

Anyone opposed to Schaumburg?

Will June or July work this year or should it be later in the year? or for those with ridiculous schedules, should we be planning this early 2011?

I wanna go!!! This gathering was in my Bhuz dream, as I referred previously (and in a thread - see above)... But I could only attend it if it happened during holidays...

What if we did Bhuzstock in December? Would that work better for people?
Tell us what works best and let's see what we can come up with?

Hmmm, I kinda like the idea of visiting the Dahlal store in St. Louis. And since St. Louis is a burb of Chicago, that would totally suck too!

I can't afford to do anything anywhere near the holidays.

The only big problem I see with December is the fact that weather is always a crap shoot in the winter.

I'd definitely make the trip to Schaumburg! I would advise against choosing a winter month, though, for the following reasons:
1. Winter weather can mess with travel plans.
2. It's easier to dress cute when it's warmer outside.

St. Louis has Dahlal AND Andrea2 would probably arrange a showing of her stuff for us...

But I'd go to Schaumberg, too, if the timing works out.

Schaumburg is approx 8 miles from O'Hare airport. Champaign is approx 2 1/2 hrs south. It's about half way between St. Louis & Schaumburg/Chicago.

Schaumburg is great, but if we go just a mile or two south of there into
the next county it will be cheaper! Tax rates are huge in Schaumburg,
so going to the next county could save everyone some money!

Good news is that the next county is right next to Schaumburg, with the
same access to everything you mentioned before. Expressways, hotels,
restaurants, airport.

The hotel where I'm having the Bahaia weekend workshop July 24 and 25 is in Elk Grove Village, nice little hotel, great in-house restaurant/bar, they LOVE belly dancers, and there's a shuttle from O'Hare right to the hotel. It's minutes from the expressway and close to downtown, Woodfield, shopping on Lawrence Avenue, etc. Economical hotel. And we could actually have a hafla in the atrium or in the bar.

Holiday Inn Elk Grove - check it out. It would make a great Bhuz meetup venue. And it's close enough to Chicago to suck BIG TIME!!
