Thread: Casablanca Restaurant (Alexandria, VA) January 29th

A whole bunch of students from Artemis' Turkish Intensive went for dinner to Casablanca on Friday. The group included Bhuzzers Nadira of Boston, and Annwyn (and myself).

It was an awesome night full of great performances - we caught the tail end of Sheherazad; I am not sure whether I should be sad for having missed most of her performance, or happy for having seen her dance, she is amazing. We then watched Bonita, whose double cane was among my (admittedly many) highlights of the night. Then came a live band with *four* dancers, we had a really great time, what a linup! The first dancer (whose name I do not remember, apologies!) was really fun to watch, and splendidly handled what seemed like the band having a technical problem during Aziza. Then came Bhuzzer Zana, whose performance I just loved, she had such joy and energy, I wanted to get up and dance with her, which is the highest compliment to a dancer. Next was Kostana (who is on Bhuz), who made everything look so effortless, wow! Last dancer of the night was Ashara with an awesome gothic flavored oriental performance. Thanks everybody, it was such a fabulous show! On the open dance floor, I know I saw Bhuzzer Lucy/Weese, who looked fantastic, even in jeans and ponytail she had that unmistakable fabulous-dancer glow. But, I am *sure* that there were many others around. Who else was there?

I got there around 10!

Aw, wish I'd been there!

Oh my! It would have been nice to meet you -- you should have said hello! :)

Oh - and the chick with the short hair that I was dancing with was Shems. :D

It was so fun! I was happy I got to stay to see all the other dancers before I went to my next job.

We will be having another live band show there with Shems, Belladonna, me, and a few others in March. Should be great so stay tuned!

p.s. Where was the Artemis info? Did she post it on her site? Or maybe it was an intensive for returning students?

And, Kiyaana, you're right, this was a "class reunion" with the graduates from last year's event (which, btw, I had found because it was listed on your Bhuz event thread!). I believe there will be a few workshops with Artemis coming up this spring/summer, and she is working on updating her website as soon as the dates are confirmed.

Well, she wasn't wearing makeup, and she also just chopped her hair off again. ..g.:

It was a great show all around and a great addition to the fabulous weekend with Artie!

That was a great show. I just wish I had been able to meet more Bhuzzers there!
