Hi Lisa, I'm competeing in the Intermediate (Phoenix) category on Saturday. But I will be performing with our class on Sunday during festival dancing. My Instructor just set it up. It will be my first class (group) performance....

Down deep inside, I wish my Instructor would start a troupe....

I really fancy going to see one of these competitions in your country.

Hi Nepenthe! The contest is the 29th and 30th, coming up soon! Trying to stay positive and confident, I just want to have fun and make the audience have fun and enjoy my show :Awink:

I'll let you know in five days how it went.... The suspense is killing me...

Kinda last minute, but I am looking for a place to stay on Saturday night. I'm coming up from Eugene for the event and dancing in the festival dancing. On Sunday I am picking up my husband at PDX, so I would rather not drive home again.

I would love to share a room at the hotel or I can bring a foam pad and sleeping bag and bed down on someone's floor.

Anyone?

I am already mooching off my inlaws staying with them, or I'd offer. ..c::

Also, Lucinia was the only contestant in the Phoenix (intermediate) category, she performed wonderfully!

Wow!! Way to shimmy, Jewels!!! This is so exciting!!!!!!! I'll be eagerly checking for the results of tonights festivities! It seems to me that everybody should feel like a winner.

It was a wonderful evening full of talented dancers... if I do say so myself... I had friends saying that they had no idea who would win or even place.... so proud to have been a part of such a wonderful group of dancers. And a wonderful contest too!

Congratulations to the winners! I have known Kendra and her belly dancer Mom for years and I've always admired her dancing. Her recent study in Egypt is paying off, she is more confident yet still retains her own style and is nobody's clone.

I shared time backstage with Sedona at the Oregon Country Fair this summer and she was very sweet in addition to being drop dead gorgeous. She's definitely an up and coming dancer in the Portland area.

This was my first time seeing Vilia, as she is from S. Cal and I don't get down there much. But her technique was very very good. I thought maybe she was the Vilia from Bhuz, but she said no, there is another Vilia.

Wish I could have been there on Sunday, darn it. The dancers had to dance to music they had been randomly assigned the night before, so they had to show their skills at improvisation. Which I love to see because I really love dancers who are not in their heads, you know.

I was blown away by Ruby, she was such a goddess, I expected her to place at least, or win. Her Turkish inspired dancing was a big breath of fresh air. But the Egyptian stylists dominated in the end.

p.s. Jewels was really lovely on Saturday. Just beautiful.

Everyone was hot! It was a fun competition and I'm so glad I got to meet Jewels and Lisa Mandin. You guys were sweethearts and made backstage much friendier ..l;,

Jewels, I'm going to steal your boots if we meet again. They're awesome!

In other relations to the competition, Dahlia's performance yesterday was mind-blowing! I was in tears by the end. She is a dancer that shares her soul with every step and every breath of dance. Absolutely mesmerizing.

It was great to see a turkish style performance!
