Re: London
I posted on Scarletdancer's London in August post that we don't have any bellydance shops in London, as far as I know, but Brighton Orient's Maayan has a showroom in Sussex, which is easily accessible by train from London, and you can arrange an appointment with her.
Belly dance costumes & Dance wear - Brighton Orient
There is a showcase taking place in Chelsea on 3rd July, Bellydance on the Beach. It's a new event, so I have no idea what it will be like, but I'll be going.

Re: London
Thanks girls! :D
I had a look at that website, but it seems like it is a while since it was updated? And looks like there are bellydancers mostly in the weekends, and we are going to be there sunday to thursday. :/
Oh, Bellydance on the Beach sounds FUN! Maybe I should come a day early? :D

Re: London
Hm.. would have to come on thursday, wich would cost me an adittional 100 usd :S
Seems like I might have to go to London alone. I AM going, have wanted to go to London forever! But Im a little bit scared of the underground, the train, and beeing in London alone :D lol.. But that would have been so much fun!
Have heard that hotell standards in GB are sorta bad.. Is that true?
Does anyone know about a nice B&B or Hotel, that is affordable?
And Bea, could u meet me somewhere before the Beach thing?

Re: London
Sure! I always like to meet visiting Bhuzzers!
Hotel standards are generally reasonable, especially if you go for a chain like Ibis, or Travelodge, or Premier Inn. Small private hotels would be a very mixed experience, you could have a brilliant place, but you might not. At least with a chain, you know what to expect. They may not be very individual, but they are clean, with good bathrooms!

Re: London
Thank u so much Bea, but it seems like Ill be missing out on bellydance on the beach :/
We will be in London from Sunday to Thursday morning.
Is there any BD classes in London I could join one of those days?
Drop in classes or something?
My BD teacher is probably not teaching anymore, so I wanna dance whenever I get the chance. She is the only BD teacher here, so now Im on my own :'(
Im a beginner, so if anybody knows about a class I could join one of the days Im in London, or if there are any teachers in here that would be able to give me a private lesson, I would be sooo greatful!
Thank u sooo much!
I arrive this sunday, and leave on thursday morning =)

Re: London
Jo Wise's classes are Improver/ntermediate level, on a Tuesday
Classes - JWAAD
There are a number of London based JWAAD-trained teachers
Bellydance Classes - Find a Teacher
I'd particularly recommend my friend Krystina! I don't know if she does Drop Ins, but if you contacted her, she'd do her best to help you.

Re: London
I was in London in April. We stayed at the Tudor Court Hotel. It's a B&B hotel--one of many in London. It's not cheap, but it's reasonable by London standards. It's nothing fancy, either, but it's clean and quiet, and the owners are very nice. I chose it because of the reviews on Trip Advisor. Also, it was recommend by either Fodo'rs Guide or Frommer's. A full, hot breakfast is provided, which helps to save some money and time (it's very quick to pop downstairs for breakfast). The best part is that it's 1/2 block from Paddington Station, where more than one tube line meets, and you can catch the train to/from Heathrow, as well. It's also an easy walk to Hyde Park (a lovely place for a break from the crowds and bustle), along with the Albert Memorial and Kensington Palace. There's a little Lebanese cafe around the corner with very good, reasonably priced food.
I didn't go to any bellydance stores, but I did buy some Point 5 Colinette yarn (popular for tribal fusion costuming) at I-Knit, near the London Eye.
I loved shopping on Carnaby Street. If you have a bit of cash to spend, and you love shoes, check out Irregular Choice. I bought these boots (below) there, and people are always gushing over them and asking where I got them. I loved almost everything in that store, because it was so unlike anything I could get at home.
Out of all the sights in London, the Tower of London with the Crown Jewels and Westminster Abbey were probably the most interesting. I'd say go as early in the day as possible to both, so that the crowds won't be as bad. Although I thought Westminster Abbey was fascinating, I saw only part of it, as I had to leave because the crowds were horrible--it was difficult to move, and I was starting to feel panicky.
We had time for only one show while we were in London, but I thought it was fabulous, and I'd highly recommend it. It was Billy Elliot.
Hope you have a great trip!
