What to pack for Rak East?

This is my first Rakassah. I have no idea what to expect beyond what's on the pamphlet. Besides clothes for the workshops, what does one bring to Rakassah? What kind of clothes do people wear? Is there anything I might not think to bring that I should?

I'm not performing, so I don't have to worry about a costume, right?

It's Rakkasah, so celebrate being pretty and shiny by wearing them! But do think about your comfort level....it's a precarious balance between looking fabulous and feeling fabulous in that 11th hour LOL.

And as my husband says...always bring a costume, because you never know.

Be sure to bring layers, (socks, tank tops, blouses, hoodies, skirts you can layer), cause NJ can get cold and damp quick (even inside). I nearly froze to death in the Acme the other night. You would have found me there, preserved and packaged in the frozen veggie aisle...

I'm going this weekend also but I haven't packed yet. I have to run to the laundry mat tonight! I don't know what to bring but I don't want to bring too much because I need to bring all of my newly purchased goodies home. This will be my first Rakkasah so hope to see you there..g.:

And it's raining here right now, so you might want to bring an umbrella.

You need nothing more than your checkbook, credit cards, debit cards and your first born. There will be lots of shopping to do. ;)

Bring snacks! I always bring bottled water (I don't mind drinking it room temp and it's overpriced in the hotel gift shop).

And I bring snacks like apples, granola bars, etc - the food at Rakkasah isn't the healthiest (think burgers, hotdogs, etc) and I hate hitting up hotel vending machines.

Besides that, I bring just about everything else I can think of. You would think I'm going to Rakkasah for two weeks not two days.

Packing is next on my list to do tonight. You'll see a lot of people dressed ala belly danseur, but I usually wear jeans and comfortable shoes -- it's a long time to be on your feet shopping and unless you snag chairs right away, you'll be on your feet watching as well.

That was something that surprised me a bit - the food really wasn't very healthy! The people doing the food were fun but I wish they would add a few healthier options.

    Camera : check
2 sets of extra batteries: charged
list of stuff to look for and buy: check
    cash and credit: check
Bhuz pin: d$@n didn't order that
    Delaware bellydance pin: check
mood music for the car: check

    still need: snacks and water
and to decide what to wear.....starting from the feet
And now I ask myself can I survive without the sneakers
(which can just ruin the whole look)

So I see you made it. ..g.:
And your husband is SO right about always brining a costume. From doing the dancer sign in: Seems someone is always a no-show, AND I know we also got about 10 minutes ahead at the very end.
