    Brisbane Winter Warmup 2011

Who's going this year? I know with Dr Mo being replaced by Momo Kadous some have dropped out. Hopefully Momo Kadous will be good and it'll be another packed intensive.

Considering Momo's international acclaim and his track record of producing multiple award winning choreographies, it's suprising to hear that some dancers have decided to forego his seminars. In addition to his elegant Sharqi choreographies, his knowledge and skill of teaching authentic folklore dances are second to none.

Here is a link to some Bhuzzer's feedback on Momo ... Momo Kadous is Ahlan Wa Sahlan's Best Choreographer

There are some that have difficulty understanding him due to his accent, but if you an open ear/mind, you'll be just fine.

Momo is in heavy demand all over the world and any dancer who is serious about his/her craft should study with him at least once. Many of the world's superstars do so repeatedly, in open workshops and private lessons.

I'm sure he'll be great - but most of the old hands are used to their folklore from first genners like Dr Mo and Denise Enan (who were able to study the form while it was still viable in the community). Whatsmore, Mo was offering, that after the main workshops, to distill his 50+ years of professional experience into 4 or 5 days of teacher training.

Momo Kadous is 1st generation and also has 50+ years of experience. He and Mo Geddawi are colleagues in their profession. Is there info going around that states differently?

Here is a brief bio.... if you're interested in reading a longer one, please let me know.

    ---

Momo Kadous is internationally recognized as one of the masters in the belly dance world today. A choreographer, performer and director, Momo Kadous brings authenticity to the forefront of all his events.

Originally from Mahalla, Egypt, Momo Kadous has devoted his life since early childhood to the performing arts. He began his career path at the age of 10 in Mahalla and continued it in Cairo at the Balloon Theatre in Cairo. With extensive training in ballet, character dance, modern dance, Egyptian folklore and many other dance forms, Momo has developed a distinctive style all of his own.

He has earned international fame as a master instructor, dancer and choreographer for Oriental and Egyptian Folkore dance. His award-winning choreographies and friendly teaching style are much sought after in Europe as well as worldwide.

His many accomplishments include creating and directing numerous fantastic shows such as “Zaro” in 1997, “7000 Years in Egypt” in 2000, and “Al Mashrabiya” in 2002; Momo is currently planning future projects as well.

Presently, Momo teaches worldwide and continues his trademark projects where dancers are able to benefit from his training, his knowledge and his expertise in the art of Oriental Dance as well as Egyptian Folklore.

    Fantasic Workshops!

Momo is a brilliant teacher. Those in Australia who weren't there missed a fantastic experience. What is more - he gives correction!! (can be a little uncomfortable when you get singled out - but well worth the embarassment)

I can recommend Momo 100%. Now, I just need to convince Maria to fit him into the programme over the next feew years.
