I'm sponsoring Ranya Renée in two San Francisco workshops the evenings of September 22nd and 23rd. This is her first time teaching in San Francisco, and I am thrilled to have her in our city by the bay!

Thank you Monica for bring Ranya to the Bay. I have all but one of her dvds and they are like gold to me. I'm taking the workshop on the 22nd. If I didn't have a gig Saturday night, I'd be front and center at the second one as well.

Monica is she performing anywhere while she is here?

Is there a maximum number of participants for the workshop? Also on your page it says street parking is free after 6pm, are parking spaces easy to get there?

Hi Michelle!

Yes, there will be a cap. I actually am waiting on the studio to find out what they recommend as a max for the room should that become an issue, so I don't have an exact top number yet, but if need be we absolutely will stop taking registrations. It is a big studio, but I want participants to get a fair value, be comfortable, and be able to soak in all of Ranya's...Ranyaness! ;)

"Street parking", "easy" and "San Francisco" are not words that usually go together. That said, in my experience there will be street parking available after 6PM, and I don't think you will need to do a ton of driving around to find a space. There may be some traffic in the area, and you'll want to be prepared for one way streets as you look. But you can find metered (free after 6) spaces around and along Mission Street near 7th, on 7th itself between Folsom or Howard and Mission, on Stevenson Alley which is between the studio and the Federal Building (and often a little smelly, sorry in advance!), or across Market on McAllister with little to no problem. If you are willing to pay for parking, there are also a few very affordable lots ($5 for the evening) in the area which at least you can use as a back up if you can't find a suitable space. I don't usually drive, but when I have I have never had to pay for parking--I have always found a street spot.

Not sure where you will be driving from, and if none of those streets mean anything to you or you want me to get more specific, email me or PM me. I can't guarantee anything, and do give yourself a little bit of extra time to find something. But in my experience it won't be terribly difficult to find a street spot.

I fear that I may miss something good since I have a performance Friday and Saturday night. I'd be happy to do dinner and chat afterwards if it develops, although I'd love to see a live performance from Ranya.

Ranya will be here this week, and for any Northern California bhuzzers who are on the fence, we still have a bit of room in both the Thursday and Friday evening classes. Don't miss this chance to spend five hours of studio time with Ranya Renée. This is her first time teaching in San Francisco--you'll be able to say "I was there!". ;)
