Thread: Anything happening in NY 4/3 - 4/9 2012?

I just booked my flights and will be in New York from the 3rd of april til the 9th of april 2012.
Does anyone know of any special classes/workshops/events happening there & then?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

my birthday!!! hahaha i know that doesnt count :p. i would wait a little we are all wrapped up in jan & march right now i dont think most of us have gotten up to april for bigger events :D

but yes there is always dancing at jebon on wends, layfette grill on suns and there are some other places over the weekend times. im sure someone will chime in.

I'll be in NYC from the 3rd to the 7th.

I'll probably go to a few classes while Im there - I have Saturday March 3rd open & would like to go to Tarik class over on 8th ave at 2pm. Would you like to meet up? Any other girls want to get together? The class is dangerously close to the fabric stores too :o)

Nourhan has her Egyptian workshop from the 1st thru the 4th - Raqia is teaching on Saturday & Sunday

Tarik Sultan teaches Saturday afternoons - going to this class for sure

Pearl Studios 4th Floor, usually in room 412.

Azza Amon teaches Advanced on Fridays
Nourhan teaches on Tuesdays
Elena Lentini teaches but not sure of the classes right now.
Morocco teaches on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday - plus her book just came out. She's a hoot & her classes are always fun!

There are so many wonderful & talented dancers in NYC - try to make some classes if you can.

Scott Wilson Host's a Sunday night dance party - I think it's over at the Lafayette grill but not sure - I'll check

It seems like there was some date misunderstanding here. You are talking about March, the OP is talking about April. The Soraia/Raqia workshops are in March (I'll be there by the way, if anyone wants to come say hi!).

To the OP: I'm not sure about specific events in April but be sure to check out Layali Dubai in Queens. It's a new place with live Arabic music and belly dance on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and I think Sundays. The belly dance show usually starts between 10:30 and 11pm. It's really amazing and I think it's important to support our live music venues.

Lafayette Grill unfortunately is done but from what I hear they are looking for a new venue. Fingers crossed!
