Thread: spin off: who is going to Jalsah DC??

This coming weekend. I'm hopefully going for all the workshops.

Yinz are lucky that we let the cool ME musicians from Da Burgh go to the nation's capital ;-)

Seriously, Jalsahs are incredibly fun, and I can not imagine that a dancer would miss such an event! I also highly recommend that everybody who plays an instrument attends Melissa's class. In fact, knowing the songs and the general knowledge (on how ME music is played) she teaches is very useful for dancers without any active musical talents, as well.

Hope that my fellow Bhuzers dance it up, and, if there is a dancer's call-out for songs, ask for Iste Hendek for Şteffi ;-) I'll be there with you in spirit!

I'll be at the friday show and I'm going to try and hit the Jalsah on the tail end of Saturday (I'm working that night), but I can't make the workshops.

And I'll be attending the Muhammad Shahin show and workshops, which are the same weekend! Why do events have to be either feast or famine??

I agree with Steffi. Being a musician and dancer, I can definitely say that Melissa's workshops are very valuable to both. She'll also give/point you to some great resources so you can continue practicing and learning after she's gone. And the Jalsah? Well, you're in for a hell of a good time! Wish I could be there!

So, take care of my bandmate, Melissa...and be sure to send her back! ;)

I know- isn't that sad? I imagine Yucy and I were doing our planning at the same time. For Jalsah! we had to coordinate the schedules for Dale Langdon, Carmine, Melissa, myself and Artemis Mourat - not an easy feat! Our info went out and I already had appointments for photo shoots when I first saw about Mohamed Shahin. It was too late to change by then.
What IS amazing though- is that in our city we've got caliber dancers at BOTH shows AND tons more, too. We've got amazing performers here. I wish I could attend the other show/worlshops- they're gonna be great! We're lucky to have the variety.
Tribal Cafe is on Sunday, too. We've got Turkish, Egyptian AND tribal events this weekend-from sign ups that I know of it looks like they're all going to be well attended- how cool is that?

I'm going to the drum solo class & the music class. Looking forward!
