Thread: Magda and Atef in the Bay Area

Hi Bhuzzers- I saw that New Yorkers are talking about Magda and Atef's workshop in NY, but to the California dancers- they will be in Pacifica on March 8 and San Jose on March 9. On Saturday they are teaching Oriental and Ghawazi/Saidi, then on Sunday, Haggalah and Melaya (Alexandrian).
They are trainers for the Reda troupe and definitely teach Reda-style, but although I am a straight-up Oriental soloist I have come to love the discipline, precision and clarity of the Reda technique as a solid basic underpinning for dance technique. They are just such great teachers and totally lovable, down-to-earth people. Their sponsor is Hala of Santa Clara, Welcome to Hala Dance. I highly recommend them as teachers. For the record, I have no financial or business investment or motive here- and although I am proud that I can call Magda and Atef my dear friends, I would only recommend a dance workshop if I felt it was worthwhile because I know how we all have to stretch the "dance dollar."

I'm planning to go... would love to hear more from people who took their workshops before though. (mostly interested in Oriental)

Two very trusted friends of mine absolutely RAVE about them.... If I didn't have to worry about funds, this would definitely be on my list.
