A New Year, a New Me
The old me was 'Samirah-NH'. I've been wanting to change my username for some time now. I never got around to dropping or changing the 'NH' when I relocated to MI over 2 yrs ago, and never really felt the meaning of 'Samirah' suited me. Plus, there are already so many Samiras out there.
So when I found I name I absolutely fell in love with immediately, I decided it was time to make the change. And along with the name change I hope to make a change in my dance life, dedicating more time to actually practicing the dance & just a little less time lounging around on Bhuz...l;,
I haven't been able to put that aspect of my new identity into action just yet, having spent the first week of the new year battling a nasty intestinal bug that has kept me on a pretty short leash.
But hopefully I'll be back on my feet & ready to dance next week.

Hi Dancer Formerly Known as Samira-NH!
How does one pronounce this gem of name? (Maybe I should resurrect that thread)...

Re: A New Year, a New Me
Yes, that thread was helpful. I discovered I had been mispronouncing several of these lovely ladies' names.

Mine is "Shay-lee-AHN-ah". I love the way it looks and the way it sounds & just connected with it immediately...g.:

Re: A New Year, a New Me
Actually, it doesn't have any meaning that I've been able to find. It's a completely fabricated name. I found it in a magazine article about how unusual names have become more prevalent in recent years. It sounds a little exotic, but isn't attributable to any particular ethnicity. I just think it has such a pretty, flowing, melodic sound to it, and that's what I want to convey in my dance, so it's perfect.
