Thread: Hola From Kentucky

I have been lurking in the forums for a couple of days after I joined but I have been reading for a while here beforehand. Name is Lys, short for Lysandra, and I’ve always seen the elegance and the fluidity of belly dancers as something akin to watching the first star of the evening shining brightly and longing to try it myself but felt too awkward to do so. I always thought my body was too awkward and couldn’t hold a single beat with my two left feet to even strive to move that way. So I just watched and reveled in the music and the energy of those videos I saw online with their enthralling music.

But recently with some new found determination I decided to try it out via instructional videos. Since the closest belly dance instruction classes were too far and I have no means of transportation to get there but I would if I could. From what smidgen I have learned (I’ve been going at the basics slowly) it’s become a very rewarding experience. =) I have come to find a new love for my body and myself. Not to mention an appetite to learn more once I’ve conquered the basics to discover a new feminine facet of myself and connect with others who feel the same.
