Thread: Hello from Egypt.....Ohio

Hi there! My name is Lori. And yes I am from Egypt....Ohio. That's right. Way back in the middle 1800's my ancestors fled Germany to better their socio-economic conditions and came to Ohio in order to found a small---er---um---berg (? its so small that if you blink-you'll miss it). Ironically enough, they named the destination of their journey "Egypt"...and so I guess I can call myself a bellydancer from Egypt! LOL

I've been officially bellydancing for about 8 years. Before that it was vids in the living room and a lot a dreaming. I started with a small troupe and have moved on up to my own troupe ..g.: We call ourselves Troupe Zephyr and we try do all styles of bellydance for performance variety. We have a large repetoire of fusion at the momment.

I am a natural health consultant by trade (thus the handle "herbchick"). I work with clients to help them design herbal/nutritional programs to better their lives.

I also work as a writer.w.: I am at the beginning stages of framing out a book about bellydance, bellydancers, etc. I mainly want to focus on the beginnings/history (...more aptly: HERstory) of the dance, and then focus on the binding effect bellydance has on women from across the globe. You know, no matter where a dancer is from, what religion she observes, what customs she adheres to, or what laws she must abide, there is that love of the movement...the love of the beauty....of bellydance that unites us. That's what I want to convey to the reader. So...along that note, if any of you are interested in allowing me to interveiw you for this endevour, PLEASE LMK!! hit me up as a friend and express your interest It's a monumental task and I can in no way do it alone,r:;

if you look on the map, you want to find these three places: minster, ft. loramie, maria stein. Egypt is on sr 364 just about immediately center of these three :)

Hi and welcome. I google earthed Egypt, Ohio and all I saw was a paddock with a large white homestead on it, very remote looking.
