Thread: Howdy from Ohio!

And yet another newbie joins BHUZ. I took lessons for few months a couple years ago and had to quit because my work schedule changed to nights. Not too many teachers offer beginner classes during the day or on the weekends. So I finally decided to invest in private lessons. Wow! What a difference from group classes! Each week I leave with a different set of sore muscles, lol, but it's worth it. It's only been 3 weeks and already I can tell that I'm getting stronger and see the changes in my body - for the better.

Khalisah - I'm in Columbus too! My first dance class was with Chandara of Bellydance Columbus. My daughter and I took the class together. Tons of fun! She's is so talented and has a great class format that she teaches. Alas, my work schedule changed and she doesn't have weekend beginner classes. Time passed and I finally hooked up with Laylia for private lessons. I've seen her at the Ohio Renaissance Festival, so already knew she could dance. To my eternal delight, I've discovered that she is an AMAZING teacher! You get so much more in private lessons. My dance story is still being written. To be continued...

Gypsydanse and LiesaB - thanks for the warm welcomes! I am one of those "crafty, stitching, sewing crocheters" who will rise to the challenge of making at least one or two of my own costumes. .w.: I can't wait!!!

Hey, that's great to hear you're here in Columbus, too! Chandara and Laylia are both awesome ladies, glad to hear you've enjoyed their classes. I take (and teach) classes at Habeeba's. You should come check out one of our haflas - eat, drink and dance. You may even see Chandara or Laylia there, they both come hang with us sometimes. Our haflas are on the 3rd Saturday of each month, and the next one is Saturday June 19th. PM me if you would like more info. :)

Hello! Just another newbie here dropping in to say hello. I'm in Florida. Are you doing any gentle stretching after your sessions? That can really diminish any soreness. Just throwing that out there. :-)
