    Anyone from UK?

    Hi all!

Im new here. To give you the long story short of how and why im here...here goes...

I have a twin sister and we were both thin. Apparently Ive been unlucky genetically, and my metabolism slowed to almost a stop quite early. This has led me to gain quite some weight, whilst my sister is still skinny. Of course, she has teased me a lot, and made a joke that I should try belly dancing because "i have the belly for it". Well, I went ahead and tred it...and loved it! Thats how and why I am here....

I just wondering how other people cope if anyone else has gone through rapid weight gain? Before anyone asks, I went to see a doctor and got a clean bill of health. My weight gain is purely down to my metabolism slowing and i am aware of the ways to speed it up.

Welcome, there are lots of dancers here from the UK, I'm from Merseyside. Can't help with your problem though, I'm having the opposite trouble, trying to put weight on and not succeeding despite smoothies, whey protein, chocolate etc.

Welcome! I'm based in London and yes, lots of UK dancers are on bhuz :)

I've been several different sizes in my life. I found that while I was heavier, I usually felt better for getting some new clothes that fit me at my current size, not at the size I used to be (or wished I were!). There's no reason you shouldn't feel gorgeous all the time. If you feel good about yourself 24/7, it will make it easier for you to make gradual changes that will help you lose weight-- if that's what you want to do. Also, tell your sister to quit teasing you ;)

    Hi,

Welcome to Bhuz- I'm in SE London. I went from a size 6 to a size 12 in my first year of uni and that was quite overweight on me as I'm only 5'. I was happy with my life in general at the time so it didnt bother me all that much - but when I came home at the end of the year I did get teased badly by my sisters, and that prompted me to lose the weight, and I felt pretty low about it for a while. I don't have any real advice on this, but I feel that happiness has to come from within, and over the years I've cared less about how my body looks and get my satisfaction from what my body can do.

hey, just passed your post, where you mention trying to put on weight. if i'm not mistaken whey protein is for lean muscle rather than mass. you may want is nicked named muscle milk, more carb content and enzymes which help load weight. if you drink too much your body can only get rid of so much, and the rest gets stored as fat. nice for wobbly shimmies, but be careful you may get ponch. creatine helps build up to, but in very small doses. some muscle milks have creatine in them.

i weight train, i was very skinny @ 60k, i'm an 1/2 inche minus six ft, with avoiding cardio for a while, as this makes you burn fat, and training weights, with the help "isopure mass" i managed over 3 years to gain 15k, i got juicy legs now, a tummy but with definition and round wobbly tushy too! great for me shimmies.
