Thread: isildriel is ShoshannaQ Re-introducing under my new Bhuz name

Hello friends!

Just wanted to put out a heads-up - More and more people in my dance community are starting to know me by my dance name, Shoshanna Qamar and I'd like to make it easier for them to connect with me on Bhuz. It's also a little weird having so many names! On Bhuz I'll soon be ShoshannaQ, as soon as Rosey makes the switch for me.

I'll keep the same avatar for recognition's sake - see you on the boards.,r:;

I don't think you have to start all over! When Rosey makes the change for you (she'll only do it once) you keep all of your stars and friends etc.

Hi from NE NY state! I've changed my name more than most people have, for one reason or another, in both personal, professional, and dance world! Now I have just used my nickname for most, for a while now! phew Liesa

You, Monty and Big Poppa can call me isildriel any time honey, it's a part of me. Funny, I had a thought that you in particular might miss it. I love it too (it's elvish) and actually tried to use it for my dance name, but nobody could pronounce it much less remember it. It means Lady of the Moon. Shoshanna Qamar means Lily Moon. Shoshanna is my name in Hebrew, Qamar Arabic for the full moon. The half Hebrew half Arabic name = another Bellydancer for Peace!

I had a hard time just calling you by your real name, I've grown attached to isildriel, I feel sad. I like Shoshanna though, I had a girl in my class and that was her real name and we all called her Shonny for short. Guess that would be confusing to give you a nickname too ..l;,Would defeat the purpose.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does Isildriel mean?

Isil = moon; driel = lady. As in Galadreil: galad = trees (or light). Galadriel is lady of the trees or in some translations lady of light. Isildriel = Lady of the Moon. It's elvish.

When I was a kid sometimes the Israelis I knew would call me Shoshanna, and I always thought it was pretty and I find that I have no trouble answering to it. At the Ranya Renee weekend we all went by our dance names, and it felt really nice when she called me that. Plus all the new friends I met there that I want to stay in touch with -

Don't be sad - I'm still isildriel. It always felt like my spirit-name, and it always will be. You can call me that, and I'll answer - it would be nice in fact.

Isildriel is a beautiful name! I've always liked Shoshanna (a variation on my name, too), but the above proves you'll be loved no matter what name your friends know you by!!! (or what names they call you :-)

Thankyou dear! Irish Lily - thanks too. Must admit I had no idea that anyone liked the old name so much - made me wonder if it was a mistake - .w.: Just figured no one could say it.

The first time I tried to use it for a gig I overheard two of the other dancers talking about who else would be on the bill that night. One said " I dunno, something with an I . . . " Then the show host couldn't pronounce it when I went on, ..l;,
