Hi everyone! I'm new here, too. I'm planning to move to Knoxville soon. Do you know if there are any belly dance studios in the University of Tennessee area?

Broadway Academy of Knoxville

This is the home of my former teacher (only because I moved ..cr.: ). There are several teachers in the area. Each one has their different strengths, you might try them all and see who you mesh best with. I can't recommend Shahira and Broadway Academy enough though!!!

Shahira is fabulous so, I second that recommendation! There is a fairly large bellydance community (well large for the size of the city at least) so, you'll love it here. It encourage you to also check out Alexia Alexia-dance.com | Commanding the Stage with Feminine Grace my current instructor. Both are great so you can't go wrong with either, just different types of instruction.

I'm 45 minutes outside of Clarksville. I'm just learning by dvd, an older lady, 40, learning for fun. I see there are lots of professionals on this site! I'm not looking to be professional, though it would be nice to be that good. Once I know how, I'll check out around the area and find others to dance with. Thanks for nice replies and good luck to you on your classes!

Welcome, from Middle Tennessee! There is a fabulous teacher/dancer in Clarksville who is part of the troupe I'm in. I don't think she has a website yet, but I can get her class information for you if you are interested.

The other teachers mentioned in Knoxville have my highest reccomendations as well! I really love them all. I currently take from Sabylla - Bellydance Instruction and Performance in Knoxville - Classes, workshops, shows and some tribal/modern fusion from Jaia of Ananda- Ananda Dance Company

There are a few more really good teachers in Knoxville as well.
