Hi, all!
I'm Jennifer, 22, currently resident in Oxford but a native of the Washington DC metro area, and I'm a *total* newbie at this bellydance thing.I've been dancing flamenco since I was 16, and spent my year abroad taking classes in Granada. The lack of convenient dance classes in Oxford has recently driven me into the welcoming arms of some WDNY videos, though (since for some reason the landlady wasn't keen on my practicing flamenco on the new wood floors!
) and I'm looking forward to getting back into (something resembling) dancing shape!
That's all for now, can't wait to get to know you ladies! :-D

Re: Hello from Oxford, UK!
Hey Jennifer!
I also live in Oxford, UK. :)
Re: not finding convenient classes: Do you know about Oxford Middle Eastern Dance Society?
For our Spring Term (26th April until Tuesday 28th June) we'll be running Beginner classes at 6pm-7pm on Tuesdays and at 6pm-7pm on Thursdays. We also have an American Tribal Style class (5th of May to 7th of July) at 7pm-8pm on Thursdays.
The web site is here:
Oxford Middle Eastern Dance Society :: Home
If none of these times suit you, Caitlyn (Caitlyn: Bellydance Shows in Oxford, London, Anywhere in the UK) is also available for private lessons.
If you are interested in traditional Egyptian dance, The Raqs Sharqi Society (The Raqs Sharqi Society) usually have Saturday and Sunday classes for beginners. (See The Raqs Sharqi Society -- Katrina Robinson)
Shimmies :)

Re: Hello from Oxford, UK!
Hi Saraia,
I did indeed know about OMEDS, but beginner classes were always on Tuesday evenings before, and sadly that's when my subfaculty have mandatory graduate seminars (boo!). But I saw on the facebook group and now from your post that there's Thursday classes, so I will be signing up for those ASAP!
Thanks, and it sounds like I might see you in the real world!
