    Hello From Scotland

Hi, I'm Oresai, from Scotland. I started to learn bellydance about five years ago but had to give up due to ill health. Now I'm on the mend and hoping to pick up where I left off.
Have a few concerns though...obviously I'm a bit more fragile physically than I was, so was wondering if any members could kindly point me in the direction of dvd's that perhaps take that into account...when I started before my very first instructional dvd was the Belly Twins and it was hard going!
Also, I'm no spring chicken...fifty years old, and wondered if any members here are the same age or older and would consider sharing their experiences of belly dancing with me (if they are just beginning, as those who have been dancing for years will be so good at it without any of the concerns I have :) )
Hoping to make some new friends here and learn a lot from others. :)

Welcome! I am a few years older than you, still loving the dance - thankfully there is no age limit!

Re DVDs, one you might try by Cory Zamora is Bellydancing for Seniors (a youtube link is below, FYI). At 50, you're a bit young to be referred to as a "senior," but the movements on this DVD would be kinder than some to one who has had health issues (some of the students in the DVD appear to be in their 50's as well). (There is a link to purchasing the DVD under the clip.) If you are up to a bit more rigorous pace and re-introduction to the dance, her "Learn Bellydancing" DVD would be great for you, though you might want to skip its floorwork section depending on any physical limitations.

Thanks so much for the info, I will definately check all the recommendations out.
My main problems are balance and suppleness, both of which are needed for bellydance! But if I can learn at a gentler pace than normal then in the end I'll get there.
