“Unveiling: The Inner Journey” by Alay’nya (the pen name of Alianna J. Maren, Ph.D.), took second place in the Kindle nonfiction self-help “personal transformation” subcategory during a two-day free book promotion last week.
“Unveiling” was released in paper form in July, 2011 and in Kindle (e-book format) this April. “Kindle sales immediately began to outstrip paper sales at a three-to-one ratio,” says Alay’nya. “This reflects the growing marketplace trend, especially in the nonfiction genre.”
Amazon’s Kindle-exclusive program allows authors to make their Kindle books available for free for any five days during a 90-day period. To launch her Kindle book campaign, Alay’nya selected the Thursday and Friday just before the Memorial Day weekend, and promoted the limited-time free download using a full range of social media, including an email blast, blog posting, and Facebook. Friends, associates, and book reviewers added their weight to the social media campaign, reaching thousands of people within hours.
“Almost 1200 people took advantage of the free e-book download,” says Alay’nya. Within the Kindle nonfiction “advice and how-to” genre focusing on “health, mind, and body,” “personal transformation” is a “self-help” sub-category. “I was surprised, and thrilled, to see ‘Unveiling’ move to second place within 48 hours.”
“Unveiling” (www.theunveilingjourney.com) is a “life-roadmap book” for successful, mature women, and has received twelve 5-star Amazon reviews to date. Washington, DC-based success coach Nicole Cutts, Ph.D. (www.visionquestretreats.com), notes that “Unveiling” is “well written, intelligent and enlightening.” Women who have read books such as Carolyn Myss’s “Sacred Contracts” or Dr. Christiane Northrup’s “The Wisdom of Menopause” will find that “Unveiling” takes them into a new realm, combining intellectual understanding with greater body awareness.
“Unveiling: The Inner Journey” is available from Amazon in both paper and electronic download (Kindle) forms. Signed, dated, and numbered copies are available through Cleopatra’s Closet, an online store, at http://www.cleoscloset.com.
