    Re: Thoughts on Pricing?

Tahira beat me to it. My finance professor used to say the only difference between non-profits and for-profits is tax status. There are non-profits operating on a shoe-string, others pretty flush. I would never make a discount a standard policy - I'd evaluate case by case.

Like others have said, just because something is non-profit, doesn't mean they make it to the "Charity List". And just because something is a charity doesn't mean that, either. If a cause doesn't mean anything to me, then I don't discount.

OK. Thanks. Too late to take it back now, then. I'll remember that for the future, non profit does not always mean anything. I didn't want to do the discounted thing especially since small town in question is known for being quite wealthy. ,f::

    Re: Thoughts on Pricing?

I would have to disagree with some of you folks (and sorry, Brea if I gave you bad advice). Nonprofit people get discount rates all the time (regardless of whether or not they are truly charitable). When I buy media, I get a discounted rate or 2 for 1s because I am buying for a nonprofit. Subscription rates are different as well conference fees for nonprofits. Now, what they can actually afford is a different story....

I think that since you told them that you offered discounted rates for charity work (although you did not specify what that means) and they pointed out that they are a nonprofit...that it is fair for you to offer that rate. I'm not talking about deep discounts or anything, but you know 10% off. Good luck with everything.

Yes, I just took off the travel rate. That was about it. No worries; we'll see what happens.
