    My festival

    Hi all,

I don't know how many of you here are aware, but I've been trying to plan a festival for the area next year. Since there has been no local support or anything, I am going to have to call it off. I am so disappointed, but I just can't do it on my own. Thanks to those who offered advice; I hope to do it at some point in the future but I don't know when.

    Hey Brea-

Im sorry you had to cancel your festival. I know first hand that it is absolutlely hard work. We are only into our second year and each year it gets to be a bigger project. I know we already booked '09 w/ a guest star and booked the venue for '10. It really is quite a task and takes serious planning. Perhaps you can start planning now for a date in 09 or 10. And get a partner or 2 to help share the load.

    Hi Nilaja,

Thanks for the kind words. I am hoping to attend your festival as well! We will see where I am in the next few years; at the moment I plan to move out of the country. You are amazing for having accomplished such a huge task!

Thanks, Sylvia! That would have been fun. I was looking forward to meeting other bhuzzers at it (hopefully!). I'm planning on going to Northern Lights this year so maybe then.

I worked long and hard on it but came to the realization that it's hard to do it alone! Kudos to anyone who has been able to pull one off, it is hard work!

    Hey honey,

I'm sorry to hear that. :0(

Is it possible to help out with another festival to get hands-on experience? Then you can see what's involved and go from there.

It seems like you had a lot of questions.

Many learn from trial and error and perhaps not so willing to impart information that everyone else had to invest their own time, money, and effort into finding out for themselves.

Not saying that was the case, but there is so much work involved, it is hard to answer the question: how do you put on a festival?

    Hi Azhia,

Thanks, and I'm sorry again. I've put on a lot of local cultural events and didn't realize that this would be a much larger step up!
