Thread: Sensual motion?

I got an e-mail from a site called sensual motion.net that says the "celebrate the sensuality of the female form." Pretty much they advertise for people to hire strippers, barmaids and belly dancers. While they do label the first two as "adult only" I'm thinking I'm not interested in being included on the US version of their site because I prefer "celebrate my sensuality" separately from exotic dancers, especially when sharing a booking service may cause confusion.

They have sites up for the UK and South Africa, and I was curious to know if anyone has heard of them or gotten their emails as well.

Yes I got one, and then a follow up a few weeks later. I pretty much ignored both for the same reasons as you. I'd be OK being on a site with strippers if it also had flamenco, bollywood etc etc all types of dance. But just us and strippers? I think not.

Haven't heard of them, but this line on their website gave me the creeps: "Touching will only be allowed at The Performers discretion."

I got their ad/"invite", too, and ignored it for all the reasons above. It's not really reflective of how I want to market myself or get gigs.

I agree with everything being said here... it'll be interesting to see who does actually end up on their site when it goes up. No one legit I'm sure...

When you say "touching allowed at the dancer's discretion" then you as the dancer have to fight them off the whole time. Thanks buddy

Just got this today too. Has anybody emailed them back about their concerns (not just an email back saying "no")? I'm curious to see what they have to say about the bellydancer/stripper connection. I'm going to ask.

Several belly dancers on a popular networking site have been discussing the invitations from sensualmotion.net.
Belly dancers have worked very hard to legitimize the art of belly dance and remove it from the hyper-sexualized context that used to exist & that many media outlets continue to portray. What exactly do you envision your clients to be shopping for when they look for a belly dancer on your site: a highly qualified, trained artist or an exotically costumed sexy dancer? Many dancers on the site believe that associating with your business will undermine the professionalism & respect we have worked so hard to earn. How would you respond to this?

In my opinion, Belly Dancers ARE the true exotic dancers. Strippers are just that - strippers.

I sent them back an email saying basically what was said above. That was last week. I haven't heard from them. I don't expect to.

I agree... unfortunately the context has been changed so much that exotic = erotic in most people's minds.
