How should one go about starting there own studio? All ideas welcome.

Research. See your local SBA. They will be able to help.

Do a cost analysis. Project how much revenue you believe you can reasonably draw in, whether from your own students or from renters, and find out what the projected costs will be. Make sure you factor in start-up costs such as flooring, mirrors, insurance, lobby furniture, taxes, etc.

Do you already teach classes? I started out by teaching one class, then two, soon I had four. I added yoga classes, got various certifications, built a following and a name in the local dance community. Eventually I reached the point where it made sense to open a studio and move all my classes there (though I still teach at a few other locations).

Take some time to figure out what sort of business approach would work best for you. Some studios hire instructors, some sublet space to independent contractors. There are pros and cons to both approaches, but it really depends on you and what you want to accomplish.
