Who hosts your website?
I posted a question on the technical forum, but I need more feedback...my beloved AOL site is about to be history...so I need to find a new host...one with an easy editor, or even just one that hosts sites...recommendations? I'd appreciate whatever insights you can offer!

Re: Who hosts your website?
I wish I could help more...I use SiteSpinnerV2 to build my site. Brinkster Hosts it. Site spinner is really easy to use but I don't know what kind of programs Brinkster has for building. Sorry

Re: Who hosts your website?
I use a service offered through a friend's business. MacAtoZ LLC
I've known Ty since high school. He's pretty much a one man shop, but he's building his business well and I've never had a problem. Highly recommend!!

Re: Who hosts your website?
Easiest Website Builder EVER! Seriously, it's all drag 'n drop
Weebly - Create a free website and a free blog
If you're just putting up a generic site, you can use their builder for free and they'll host it too if you don't care about the "weebly." in the middle of your domain. At the moment I'm using them for a couple of sites. I have them hosted by BlueHost and then just redirect my domain to the weebly site. (until I come up with something better)

Re: Who hosts your website?
I use 2:
For my personal site, I use: HostPapa.com: Green Web Hosting Company Powered by 100% Green Energy
They are a "GREEN" hosting site. Environmentally friendly :-)
For my business site, I use: CityMax - The Original All-In-One Website Builder - Home
Great shopping cart feature
Eventually - I would like to transfer my business site to Host Papa.
We all gotta do our part to save the environment!!

Re: Who hosts your website?
I use OneWeb Host for my site. Relatively low-cost per month.
They have a sitebuilder, but I write the all the code for our website myself (using HTML Kit - which is free, and go to HTML Goodies - also free, to learn how to do stuff).
There are a lot of free web hosts out there - but the thing I hate about them is that your viewers get pop-ups or other ad stuff when they visit your site. It's how the host-site makes $$$ (selling ad space on YOUR page)
I'm advertising "my studio" and it's classes/offerings - and do not want somebody else's crap interfering or showing up on my page...

Re: Who hosts your website?
Mira,
Thank you! I actually did open a "Weebly" account and played with the editor...but...yeah...I didn't want their name in the middle of my domain name and the editor didn't allow me to make the kind of site I wanted...so...the search continues...but...it's a neat little site!!!

Re: Who hosts your website?
Thank you for the info...and...I agree about free!!! But "free" isn't the issue...AOL offered the space for free which was great...but not necessary...I just liked the easy editor and FTP space...I just need a reliable host and to get going with an easy-ish editor that will let me tweak til my heart and site's content!!! ..l;,

Re: Who hosts your website?
I'm just curious, what did you want that the editor wouldn't let you do? The only thing I know you have to pay for is audio. (Video is free, but not audio...go figure!) Is there something else that isn't working? As far as I know, you can add any code you want through the "special html" button.
Good luck on your search! I'm sure you'll find just the right new home.

Re: Who hosts your website?
I use startlogic.com. Their site is slow, but they have awesome customer service and good prices. Don't use their freebie site builder. It sucks. Instead it is worth it to go up a notch and buy the better site builder.

Re: Who hosts your website?
Yahoo! as well. there are several options of how to build your site. Two different sets of tools plus good old fashioned HTML. go to Yahoo! Small Business: Domain Names, Web Hosting, E-commerce, Email, and Online Marketing and they'll be able to tell you more.
I use the site builder tool they have. Just copy and paste my text and upload photos. Very simple.

Re: Who hosts your website?
Gia - I use Sitebuilder - it is so easy! You can use FTP but I usually just insert pictures from my harddrive; also adding audio and video clips are extremely easy.
I have my site translated to Arabic, and although it is only partially compatible with the right to left font, it turned out fine.
I really like them - because the software is user friendly I can update my site in less than 5 minutes which I frequently do (often several times / week whenever something changes). I like to be in control of my site instead of waiting for someone to update it for me.
And I have only used about 5% of my brandwidth, and everything that I get.

Re: Who hosts your website?
I just wanted to let everyone know how grateful I am for your assistance.
There's nothing like the cold sweaty feeling you get when you realize that something's gone cyber-wrong and you don't know how to fix it!
Taking a few minutes to offer advice and suggestions may seem like very little...but it really was a big thing for me!
Marianne was ABUNDANTLY helpful, not only in pointing in me in the direction of a TERRIFIC program that is easy to use and a HUGE improvement over AOL's stone age editor, but also a host that will make it EASY for me to get my new site up and running very quickly!
