Thread: new business card!

i finally finally finally have a new business card. the old one was TERRIBLE!

so am happy with this,

feedback welcome, as i plan to run out of them as quickly as possible, so i can order more/change it a bit etc. it's sharper (the picture and text) in print than on this piccie...


i chose this picture, cause the look i was going for was glamorous, but a very very friendly sort of glam.

I think you've achieved that aim - that's a great photo, glam, but full of personality.

The layout is user friendly and crisp too.

I love that picture. It says I am damn good...but very approachable and a lot of fun.

I enjoy it!

Plus, you know where to find me if you ever want to futz a bit with the font/info side of it...when work gets slow I might be up for a free playing with it.

I'd want to perhaps give the backgrouns a sublte texture, smooth the transition between image and info a bit...and play with the font...probably also finding a nice font for your name and putting that on TOP of your info or playing a bit. It's a lovely name, a nice font would really make it look great.

Wow, when I get round to sorting out a business card, I'm going to have to ask you to futz it for me!

When work is slow I like to futz me some photoshop!

its made with an online template program, where you can play with stuff a little, customize and make changes, but not sooo much, so i'm not sure what i all can change and what not. one can download ones own design, but i really dont have time to do that. and it's stll a lot better than the one i had the local printing shop make for me before;

i def dont like the sharp line between pic and the rest of the card.

what do you think of the letter type, font? i like them both but think they contrast too much? i like the top one a lot, but using that for the phone number was too hard on the eyes

nice! I like the first font (Artemisia and top text) better then the other, because it has more character. Ozma had some great suggestions, maybe she can futz an example

Love the picture, but would soften the line, add some background design elements or soft texture to the brown part and change the font a little so it is les generic.

I have to work on my own bussinesscards too this weekend, I'll post some of them tomorrow.

1001freefonts.com and 1001fonts.com have a plethora of awesome fonts, you should check them out for when you want a more unique font for the main font (your name).

I'm with ozma - the sans serif font you have for your contact info is fine, but it would be super awesome to have a really distinctive script font for your name - it could make it feel like a logo.

It's nice Artemisia, I agree with what others have already said about font.

The only thing I see is, I *think* the word "be" should be capitalized; in Do You Want To Move or "Be" Moved.

yep, i realised that too after seeing it in print... funny, never realised it on screen!

easily fixed for the next 500 cards!

Yes on "To" and no on "or".
I'm pretty sure.

I think everyone has said what I would have said. Personally I don't like the font on the top as I see it all the time and it feel over-used to me. It's not offensive, it's just one of those..."I've seen that before"...sort of things.

Here is an example of a nice script font from 1001fonts.com. (free fonts website)

On a template, you have to choose from the fonts they offer and it's usually VERY limited.

If I were futzing with it, I'd want to take the 'do you want to move or be moved' part and make it undulate across the entire card, tying the photo and other elements together, in a lighter shade of the background tone so it's dreamy-looking. I just LOVE that tagline, remember it even popped up in one of my dreams once?

I think for working with a template, this is as good as it gets, and the convenience factor is huge. It's a lovely, professional card, nice cohesive use of color, and definitely achieves your goals.
