How do New Year's Gigs work at restaurants?
I was asked to do a New Year's gig at a Greek restaurant. My boyfriend is not happy about it, but I want the gig. I am going over the restaurant to talk to the owner this week and I want to go armed with the facts. So tell me, how do these things work? Do I stay for midnight, is that the norm? Or do I just dance during dinner? How much should I get paid? More than a regular restaurant gig? Tell me everything I need to know.
Thanks!

Here, regular restaurant dancers get double the normal pay on NYE, but if it is a restaurant that does not have regular dancers, they would be charged the normal NYE party rate.

In general for restaurant new year's gigs, I charge double my private party rate and they generally want me to dance right up until the countdown and then perform a set or get people up and dancing right afterward.

Ditto on the above about rates.
I usually do a dinner show or two at regular venues, then a private party or two, then a regular show at a place RIGHT before the count down. So, really you can arrange the time with the owner as you both see fit. Hopefully you can encourage him to have you dance early so you can go back and ring in the New Year with your man. Best of both worlds. :)
