Thread: Seeking sound equipment recommendations

I'm opening a new studio and sponsoring a few events and I'm thinking about possibly investing in some sound equipment. I would like something portable-ish, but my focus is mainly on loud, clear (so we can use it in open spaces) and hopefully relatively affordable. Do you have any options to suggest?

If nothing in the form of a full sound system comes up, have any of you had luck buying a guitar amplifier and plugging a smaller boombox into that?

Laptop computer and AudioEngine powered speaker combo works great. 300 bucks for the speakers - used. Meant to work with an ipod, but the pod doesnt have enough wattage on its own to push good "signal", hense the laptop gets connected instead.
