Thread: Gigmasters - I'm confused!

I signed up for gigmasters the other day, and have been getting loads of "bid requests" since then. I'm not so crazy about the fact that I have to "bid" a job, but whatever.

Anyway, I just put in a bid for a wedding, and the client called me to book minutes later. So....I'm just sending her my regular contract like I do for all my jobs.

Where does Gigmasters come in? I agreed to pay a 5% booking fee for all my clients, but she is not booking me through them, I don't think. Where does the fee come in?

It says I need to log my bookings to improve my rankings. If I do that, will I be charged the fee? What if I didn't agree to pay the fee? Would she be charged, then?

I'm confused!! Help!

What type of membership do you have? I have the 12 month professional membership and do not have to pay any booking fees to gigmasters. I do pay an annual fee to gigmasters for my membership, but do not owe them any money from my bookings.

The basic membership, for three months. I paid them to join, but there was a box that I had to check if I wanted to pay my client's booking fees. Did you check that box? I see most of the NY dancers have that listed, so I figured I should too.

When you get booked, do you go and log it afterwards?

Honestly, I haven't had to log anything. As long as it was booked and accepted through gigmasters everything has shown up for me so far.

I do not pay my clients' booking fees, though - I found that it cost me more in the long run to do so and I didn't seem to lose any bookings by not including it.

How do you dancers who use gigmaster and partypop know you will be safe when you go to these bookings?

For me, same as everywhere else. They only help with the person finding you. Once you have submitted your bid and the client has selected you, then you are responsible for talking with the client to work out all of the details. I just follow my standard procedure at that point and always have my husband or other assistant with me for safety.

It isn't like an agency where they they do all of the booking and send you to an address. You actually do all of the communication with the client yourself.

Yep, I'm on both and have never had any problems. It's the same as a client just finding your website off the internet.

Mashati, when you say that your jobs were booked and accepted through gigmasters, what do you mean? I literally signed up two days ago, so I'm clueless. This client that just booked me submitted the bid request, I submitted my bid, and then she called me, and I emailed her a contract. Is that what you usually do? Or is there a way to do the actual booking through gigmasters?

wow I never heard of gigmaster do you get alot of booking out of it? Any spams?

Well, I only signed up last week and I've already been booked for a wedding. You get a lot of bid requests, but some of them are pretty far away - clients can just say they want a bellydancer and gigmasters will contact every bellydancer within 100 miles or so.
