when ordering from a vendor/artist
PLEASE follow up and confirm if you want the order or not..PLEASE don't leave us hanging for days on end. Especially when items are made to order, we require a time period to schedule it in and it's not fair to other dancers who are waiting, who know what they want, to have to stand in line waiting on someone else's indecision and inability to return a prompt email.
Not confirming an order slows up a vendor and everyone else waiting in line...
thanks!

Jesennia, dear
Don't you take a deposit for these orders? No deposit no order especially if it custom made.

Re: when ordering from a vendor/artist
I am with you sister!
I have started telling people that I will "hold" an item for X # of days and then it is back on on the market. I have also started taking deposits for larger items with the policy - if you do not pay this off in XX # of days - I keep your deposit and place your item back on the site.
I hate doing that. I wish people would understand the amount of time it takes to make a product available.
though - I will say that less than 1% of my inquiries default so - not so bad but still a time waster for me.

oooooooooo the cart? I'm guilty of doing that. I go to a site and put things in the cart and then I wait before buying. Kinda like my cooling off period usually 72 hours to prevent impluse buying before I make the final purchase.
I never considered that the item would be on hold cause its in someones cart. I figure it stays on the shelf till a person hits the purchase button.

Re: when ordering from a vendor/artist
I should have been more clear, I dont have a cart on the website right now, it was more a figure of speech:) Its sort of like getting booked for a party then being cancelled on short notice. If you've already set aside the time and daycare and arrangements and burned your cd and then they cancel and dont bother to call you to let you know it's a waste of resources :(

Re: when ordering from a vendor/artist
i'm not talking about "how much would a pair of such and such be and how soon can they be completed" I'm talking about "I would like to order such and such and let's exchange multiple emails talking about the order and then not return an email after that. Just a simple no thanks I've changed my mind would work

I think even though it's email people feel awkward about saying no...so they don't. You can't change that, all you can do it not keep a ready paying customer waiting. If the first person comes back and does want to order and you don't have the item anymore then they are the one to go in line.

Re: when ordering from a vendor/artist
i wish it was that easy, but when it's a handmade item we're talking about, a LOT more is involved. I have to plan production. I can give estimates of completion based on the day they write in but yes if someone else confirms and pays for an order first, the 'slower' person or the one who doesn't respond back to emails will have to wait. Again most of the difficulty and challenge of scheduling/production comes from the fact they are hand made. I don't have the luxury of receiving a box of goods and opening the packages, and then restocking them if someone bails on an order.
it's just a courtesy thing..
