    Insurance in New York State?

    I have always been connected with a studio, gym, or Community Ed for my classes. I have found a place to rent space but I need insurance to rent.
    Sooo..... Anyone from New York State have insurance? (I say the state because of our restictive laws! "Not available in New York State" is something you see often,m:: ).
    Is there an association that you can join and buy through it?
    This is my first dealing with this. I had insurance when I ran a day care but this is new to me.
    If anyone has insurance what do you pay per year? Still working out if this will be better than working for a studio.
    thanks for any help anyone can give!
    Off to bed........,s::

    I have my insurance through Venbrook, as do a few other Bhuzzers. I got the $185/year coverage, which is $1M per claim and $2 total claims in a year. I had no problem getting my form processed and the policy sent to me in a timely manner.

    However, I believe Kimarhi recently had a bad experience with them not getting the policy to her after proceesing the payment as well as not returning her messages.

    Hi,
    All you have to do is take your photos into Photoshop, click on the Image Menu, choose Image Size, make sure constrain proportions is clicked, and make your largest sized side 600 pixels. That should make it small enough to go up on Bhuz. If it's still too big, take your largest size down to 550, and keep going down until Bhuz accepts it. I'm not sure exactly why, but sometimes it reads photos with sizes under 600x600 pixels as too big....
    Good Luck,
    Jenny

    This is useful information because I plan to move to the Ithaca/Elmira area in a few months and would like to teach there. I not sure of how different it will be from Florida. I am nervous. Is anyone from that area and know what the dance outlook is like there?

    Hey, Katina! I'm in the Rochester area and Ithaca/Elmira isn't too far away. I don't know anything about Elmira, but Ithaca does have some well-established teachers so there'd be some serious competition for students there. I'd spend time checking out the scene before making plans, then you'll know what the area already has to offer and what you can bring to it that is uniquely yours. Good luck! There's always room for another good teacher, I say!

    thanks Taj for the information. I thought the only teacher in that area was June. I have been searching for others, but I havent come across anything yet. I hope to look into local dance studios first and then see if there are some other places around. We shall see. Thanks though.
