Flyers and more...
Just wondering what kind of programs you use or would recommend to make flyers, ads more professional looking?

I use Illustrator or InDesign, sometimes Quark (I am a designer). There are some decent templates in Word though I've never used them but I know others who had.

I mostly use MS Publisher or Adobe Photoshop CS. I'm no where near a designer but I've been able to figure those out (Publisher is much easier than Photoshop).

it's pretty expensive software sorry to tell you. Though once you buy the programs the upgrades are pretty reasonable. Illustrator is about 580, InDesign is 699, Quark is the most expensive and a pain to use that is 760.
You could also use Photoshop Elements which is an simpler version of Photoshop and is cheaper at about 85.

I use MS Publisher, but it's pretty limited and my flyers don't look nearly as good as those made with Photoshop. Photoshop also has the advantage of being a multi-tasker - in addtion to putting the flyers together with it, you can also use it to edit graphics and pictures (i.e. removing backgrounds). Publisher does not have that functionality.
GIMP is a free, Photoshop-like software, but I've had it for two years and I still can't figure out how to use it for anything.

Photoshop and Photoshop elements actually have some tutorials included in the application. So it makes it much easier to learn the programs. Look in the program folder and it should be in there.
